Meet Our Dog Walkers
Saritha
A resident of Robbinsville for the past 18 years and a dog walker for the last 10, Saritha brings her love for dogs and of walking together, in this endeavor. Dubbed "the neighborhood walkers," Saritha and her dog, Monty walked 3 - 4 miles every day except when it rained, (Monty hated thunderstorms!). They scoured the nearby towns for parks, walking paths and friendly neighborhoods and in doing so, made friends with many dogs and their owners. They shared a good 8 years together. Monty was a companion above all others. They were trained to walk (as any responsible dog owner knows, the walker has to train oneself to train the dog!), by a local dog trainer and Saritha brings these techniques to the job. She believes in positive reinforcement and that walking a dog actually makes a difference in the quality of it's life.
Janet
Janet has been an active vounteer in the service dog community for over 13 years. She and her family have raised and trained over 16 dogs for service dog work in partnership with assistance dogs schools that provide guide dogs to assist the visually impaired, service dogs for disabled veterans, and for service dogs to assist children with autism. Janet has helped to prepare assistance dogs for placements with families in the U.S. (including Hawaii!), England, and New Zealand. One of her puppies was featured in the episode "Kids with Service Dogs" on Nickelodean Network's "Nick News with Linda Ellerbee." Janet trained a puppy to make her acting debut as Sandy in Pond Road Middle School's production of "Annie." Janet has been regular guest contributor at Pond Road Middle School's Student Academy, as well as a guest speaker on service dogs for several local schools and Girls Scout troupes. Janet has also volunteered with rescues, fostering and rehabilitating injured dogs, as well as bottle feeding orphaned kittens and puppies, and to prepare them for adoption. All her puppies have been trained to walk politely on a leash using primarily positive, reinforcement training techniques. Her goal is to make dog walking a fun and enjoyable partnership for both ends of the leash!
Some Friends
Effie
A litter of 11 pups was born on Feb 4, 2013. Their mother refused to nurse the pups and they were given over to a local rescue group.
Sophie
The 11 pups were divided among 4 rescuers to be bottle fed. Janet was one of those rescuers, looking after three of the pups. They were named Effie, Sophie and Lydia.
Lydia
The pups were fed, weaned and when they were 8 weeks old, they were put up for adoption through the rescue group and all pups were adopted into terrific homes. And they all lived happily ever after.
