About Us
Custom Sound Instruments was established in 2004 by Master Luthier Ryan Elewaut. Our store began with the vision of a traditional Guitar Shoppe, and has since evolved into a modern, multifaceted operation. While remaining in downtown Flagstaff, the original store was located on San Francisco Street– and then moved to South Beaver Street in 2010. In 2011, Thomas Byers expanded the lesson program and established his own studio nearby. This allowed for an expansion of floor space and a larger repair facility while maintaining an exclusive affiliation with a great teaching program. Custom Sound continues to expand their selection of instruments and other products, including custom made guitars, basses, and ukuleles. Shopping is different these days, and not only in the music world. The big-box mindset is pervasive. Alternatively, Custom Sound strives to make your experience interactive and inclusive, with personable staff pledged to customer satisfaction.
