Complements Chiropractic Care
Therapeutic Massage is one of the best compliments to chiropractic care. Because muscles are attached to bones and joints it is very important for them to be relaxed and stretched to aid in adjustments to the skeletal system. Proper alignment helps to ensure the free flow of nerve impulses and circulation of blood and lymph.
Some Benefits of Massage with Chiropractic Care
Helps prepare the body for better adjustments
It increases the effectiveness of treatments
Relieves muscle tension and pain
Helps prevent future pain and injuries
Helps you relax overall and become more receptive to the adjustments.
Spinal Decompression
Spinal decompression is a state of the art advancement in traction technology used primarily to treat disc problems in the neck and low back.
It is very useful in treating bulging, herniated or degenerative discs, facet syndrome, sciatica, failed back surgery syndrome, leg pain, numbness, burning pains, neck or arm pain and weakness associated with disc injury or disc related pain.
How Does Spinal Decompression Work?
Patients lie on a specialized table and a set of straps are applied, designed to target level(s) of your injury. A series of distraction forces followed by partial relaxation creates an "unloading force" in the spine. This unique approach can help reduce bulging or herniated disc material and allows fluids to enter the disc, restoring function and motion to the spine.
Electro-Muscle Stimulation
Electro-muscle stimulation is a special form of electrical current that is administered at the site of a soft tissue injury, especially muscles, for the blocking of pain. Small amounts of electrical current are induced into affected soft tissues to decrease spasticity and reduce swelling. Patients generally feel a slight tingling sensation.
Ultrasound Therapy
Ultrasound is a therapeutic treatment using high frequency sound waves administered in the region of soft tissue injuries. Sound vibrations, as fast as a million times per second, penetrate tissues deep in the body, creating a heat response. These vibrations and heat help break down and disperse unhealthy calcium and other hard tissue accumulations. The rise in temperature increases blood flow, relaxes muscle spasms, massages damaged tissues and speeds the healing process.
Inferential Current Therapy
Interferential Current Stimulation is used for symptomatic relief and management of chronic (long term) intractable pain. Inferential therapy is based on the effect of low frequency stimulation which transmits a controlled electrical impulse to the skin over selected muscle groups by way of electrodes. The current penetrates deeper than other electrical modalities. This helps increase localized blood flow, reduces swelling and stimulates nerve cells that help block the transmission of pain signals.
Diathermy
Diathermy involves heating deep muscular tissues. When heat is applied to the painful area, cellular metabolism speeds up and blood flow increases. The increased metabolism and circulation accelerates tissue repair. The heat helps the tissues relax and stretch, thus alleviating stiffness. Diathermy can be used to treat arthritis, bursitis , and other conditions involving stiff, painful joints.
