Why should I choose Core Reform?
Core Reform is unique among Newport Beach’s many Pilates studios because of the experience that it provides. At Core Reform, we aim to make sure that clients have a positive experience each and every time they visit the studio. Our instructors work hard to plan a great class every time they teach – they teach Pilates but they always try to add variety to every class. Our studio space is clean, bright, and spacious and our sound system provides fun music with the right amount of volume. Come check us out!
What can I expect during my first Pilates class?
At your first Pilates class, you may feel like there is a lot to learn! You’ll learn about the Reformer as the instructor leads you through various exercise. Most students do just fine during their first class. If you feel like you need extra attention, please contact the studio to schedule a few introductory Private sessions.
Can I do Pilates & participate in other sports?
Yes, absolutely! Pilates is a whole body workout. Many people who do Pilates regularly find that their performance at sports is enhanced as they develop greater strength and body awareness through their Pilates practice. Pilates can most definitely be combined with regular running, swimming, golf, walking, and just about anything else!
Can I get into a class?
Core Reform has more reformers than any other studio in the area so registering for a class is easy and 99% of the time, clients can get the class time they want. While our classes do fill up, usually it is possible to register for a class the day before or day of the class.
I am pregnant. Is Pilates an appropriate exercise program for me?
With modifications (like not laying on your back or belly!), Pilates can be an excellent exercise program for pregnant women. If you have the OK from your doctor, you can do Pilates while you are pregnant. If you are interested in doing Pilates classes during your pregnancy, please contact the studio. Pregnant clients who are new to Core Reform need to do at least two private sessions before participating in group classes.
I am new to new to Pilates. Is there a good class or class time to attend?
Most new clients should start with a Level 1 class. Clients often ask us if there is a good class time to try out and the answer depends. For clients who like to learn by watching others, the mid-morning classes and weekend classes tend to be the busiest. For clients who want a bit more personal attention, early mornings and evenings are best.
Do I need to do Private training before I take a group Pilates class?
No, you do not need to take Private Pilates training to take a Pilates class. At Core Reform, our instructors work hard to make sure all class students receive personal attention as well as detailed verbal cueing on the exercises. If you would like to try Pilates Private training before your first class or to enhance your class experience, email us and we’ll help you schedule a session.
What if I have an injury?
One of the most amazing things about Pilates is that it can be done by almost anyone, even those with injuries. As long as you have the OK to exercise from your Doctor, Pilates is safe. Pilates exercises can be easily modified for the majority of injuries, including most knee, back, shoulder or wrist injuries.
