Traditional Oriential Medicine views a person as a lively energy system in which body and mind are unified, each influencing and balancing the other.
Unlike Western medicine, which attempts to isolate and separate a disease from a person, Chinese Medicine emphasizes a holistic approach that treats the whole person and their individual situation.
Your practitioner will make a Chinese medical diagnosis based upon a thorough examination and consultation.
The examination includes the assessment of the 26 pulses and tongue and observation of the patient's facial color etc. Once a diagnosis is made, your acupuncturist will choose the most appropriate treatment.
These treatments have a unique approach taking into account what each individual needs. I utilize acupuncture, custom herbal formulas, supplements, exercises, and energetic womb healing to encourage fertility. I have had great results and look forward to helping you on your fertility journey.
Custom Herbal Formulas
Unlike western medications, the balance and interaction of all the ingredients are considered more important than the effect of individual ingredients.
Each herbal medicine prescription is a cocktail of many herbs tailored to the individual patient. The practitioner usually designs a remedy using one or two main ingredients that target the illness. Then the practitioner adds many other ingredients to adjust the formula to the patient's conditions. These steps require great experience and knowledge and make the difference between a good Chinese herbal doctor and an amateur.
CranioSacral therapy is a beautiful addition to Chinese medicine. This gentle, hands-on healing technique releases stress and tension from the head and spinal cord, enabling the entire body to deeply relax. CranioSacral is effective in treating headaches, neck and shoulder tension, back pain, TMJ, and many other health issues. Try this therapy on its own, or combine it with acupuncture for a truly restorative healing experience.
Cupping is an ancient Chinese healing method.
Cups are placed on the skin, and a partial vacuum is created either by means of heat or suction to draw up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, stagnation like soreness in stiff muscles will be released, and localized healing takes place. Cupping therapy has been further developed as a means to open the "meridians, " or energy pathways of the body.
Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the underlying tissues
Causing tissues to release toxins, help activate the lymphatic system, clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, and activate the skin. It has been especially helpful in the treatment of asthma related tightness in the lungs.

What to expect?
Before your visit
Patients generally keep their clothes on during treatment in our clinic, so please wear comfortable and loose fitting clothing if possible. The treatment is more effective, and you will feel better, if you eat something within four hours of your scheduled appointment. We observe a 24-hour appointment cancellation policy.
On your first visit
Step into our clinic and make yourself comfortable in one of the chairs near the front desk. We will assist you as soon as we are able. You will be given a questionnaire to fill out and a consent form to sign. This will take about 5 minutes. To expedite your treatment, please download and complete the questionnaire and consent forms prior to your visit and bring them with you.
Your practitioner will join you for a consultation to go over your intake forms and ask you some detailed questions concerning your complaints and health. We will examine your tongue and analyze your pulse, which are Chinese medicine diagnostic tools.
Very thin disposable acupuncture needles are used. Needles are inserted with as little discomfort as possible.
Your condition may require a number of weekly follow-up visits to alleviate or resolve your symptoms.
Your condition may require a number of weekly follow-up visits to alleviate or resolve your symptoms. In certain cases it may be necessary to schedule two or more times per week at the very beginning of your care. In the spirit of making acupuncture available for all, at Boulder Acupuncture we offer low-cost treatment options so that each person may schedule as often as necessary to receive the most benefit possible from this medicine. Your follow-up treatment plan will be discussed with you during your first visit. Enjoy your healing journey!
After your consultation you will be treated comfortably in a reclining chair or on a Massage table, either on your front side or on your back.
Wristwatches, bracelets, socks, and shoes should be removed to prepare for treatment.
Acupuncture needles are solid and about the thickness of a hair.
All needles are sterile and only used once. Appropriate acupuncture points are chosen and the needles are inserted. You may feel nothing when the needle is inserted, or slight pressure, or a tingling sensation. Other modalities like massage, cupping, electro-stimulation, gua-sha, or tui na might be used if needed.
Practitioners stay in close contact with you and encourage you to inform us if you have any sensation, anxiety, concern, or questions.
We will slow down, answer any questions you have, and stop the treatment if necessary. We always honor our patient's feelings about their treatment experience and will work to help you feel safe and relaxed in our clinic.
During acupuncture treatment you might fall asleep, feel deep relaxation, or other sensations.
Take this time to go inward and be with your body. This is your time for healing.
A session usually lasts about 45-60 minutes, but it could be more or less according to your needs.
Your session is over after the needles are removed and you are ready to leave. New appointments may be made either before or after your session.
Try to avoid strenuous exercise right after your session.
You might feel energized after your treatment or experience an unfamiliar depth of relaxation. In our daily lives we push ourselves beyond our limits. By balancing our system with acupuncture, we might realize how deeply tired we actually are. This is a good time to take a nap to catch up on needed rest. Please let us know if you have to perform a strenuous activity after your treatment so that we can adjust the treatment plan.
Finally, call us with any questions that might arise between treatments, especially if herbs are prescribed. We will return your call within the same day.
