About Us
Built in 1887, the Midland Terminal Railroad Roundhouse is a historic 14-stall railroad roundhouse originally used by the Colorado Midland Railroad. It was located in Colorado City until 1917 when Colorado City became part of Colorado Springs. The Colorado Midland shut down in 1917 and went into bankruptcy in 1918. The roundhouse was then owned and operated by the Midland Terminal Railway, which purchased the Colorado Midland portion from Colorado Springs to Divide, Colorado in 1921. The Midland Terminal shut down in 1949. Van Briggle Pottery purchased the roundhouse in the 1955 and prospered at the location for over 50 years until they moved to a new location in November 2008. In 2009, the building was renovated into an upscale retail center as is known as “The Roundhouse”. All of the stone walls and wood timber frames are original. Colorado Mountain Brewery opened its doors in 2012 as just it’s fourth occupant in over 125yrs! The roundhouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
