City Diner began as a vacant Denny's off Interstate 10 in Metairie. From the beginning the family owners sought to offer something more than the traditional late-night diner and worked to redefine that experience for their customers. They started with what was natural - incorporating diner mainstays with New Orleans classics - and created a menu of dishes ranging from a Club Sandwich to Crab Cakes Benedict. When they added in their own attention to detail in food, service, and decor, they finally had their restaurant. On December 22, 2008, City Diner opened its doors after months of planning and remodeling. Just three months later it was voted "Best of Gambit 2009" as an affordable place to feed the family. In February 2009 the restaurant extended its hours to a full, 24-hour diner. Shortly thereafter it added limited delivery, which is now available daily from 9 am to 2 am. In 2011 the owners opened a second location. City Diner is proud to serve both locals and visitors its unique take on diner fare.
