Chennault Park Golf Course is an 18-Hole Public Golf Course located just minutes off of Interstate 20 and about 5 minutes from Monroe Regional Airport. It is owned and operated by The City of Monroe while under the direction of the Community Affairs Department. It was first opened in 1975 and for years was known as the premier public golf course in the region. Over the last 15 years, its age has begun to show. In 2009 Mayor Jamie Mayo, the Monroe City Council, and the City of Monroe Administration pledged to reinvest in this once great golf course. Phase 1 of the renovations took place in the Fall of 2009 with $500,000 of renovation capital being put into the golf course and pro-shop. The course was reopened on April 1st, 2010 after a long and harsh Winter with new greens, tees, 9 new sand bunkers and a state of the art practice facility. Mayor Mayo and his staff continue to show their dedication to helping this jewel of a course reach its full potential by once again allocating more capital renovation funds for Phase 2 to begin Spring 2012. The staff is 100% dedicated to once again making this golf course one of the premier public golf facilities in the region.
