The Chennai Spice has been founded by Sasikumar Jawahar who has more than 15 years of experience in culinary industry. Sasikumar started his restaurant career in 1994 when he was trained at the Food Craft Institute in India.
His first job was at the Quality Inn group of Hotels, Chennai, India where his responsibilities included preparation of South Indian food and maintenance of quality and sanitary standards.Sasikumar's international work experience includes Carnival Cruiselines,USA and Udipi Indian Restaurant, Detriot,MI,USA .After he has immigrated to Canada, he has been employed by The Keg and then Moxies in North York, where he strengthened his key skills required to set up and run a new restaurant on his own.
Under his direction, the team of chef’s at the Chennai Spice prepares authentic regional dishes from India by using a variety of spice bases that are prepared at the restaurant from fresh raw ingredients. This gives each regional dish a unique flavor that is a hallmark of that region.
