After a $6.5 million dollar renovation, including complete re-routing of the golf course and new playing surfaces, Buenaventura Golf Course opened in March of 2005. With large bent grass greens, coupled with emerald green rye grass fairways, Buenaventura is one of the finest municipal courses in the Southland. With subtle undulations and contours, all the greens have been re-sculpted using classic Bell designs. Beautiful mature trees line Buenaventura's pristine fairways, while white sand bunkers guard the greens. Buenaventura Golf Course is located in the beautiful beachside community of Ventura, California. Ventura is one hour north of Los Angeles and exhibits Southern California's temperate weather year around. The new design enhances the woodlands feel that people loved so much about the old Buenaventura. The hazards look like they were not merely manufactured, but rather discovered in the landscape. Among the many new considerations for the new course, safety, playability, strategy and variety all played key rolls in the development of the new design. Playing at just over 6,000 yards to a par of 70, Buenaventura emphasizes course management and is a shot maker's delight. Aiming towards design features that were prevalent in the 1930s, the classic shapes and edges now transform the course as if one is stepping back in time.
