Brierwood Golf Club is a public course that was designed by Dr. Ben Ward architect. It was opened in 1969 and is the first golf community in the South Brunswick Islands in North Carolina. It snakes through a coastal pine forest, with a slope rating of 129. The course claims to be the most played in coastal Carolina, quite a claim when you consider the golf available along the Grand Strand and other parts of coastal Carolina. It offers wide landing areas and small greens, with a plethora of lakes and ponds. The course is 20 miles into North Carolina, in the town of Shallotte.
