Aerial yoga employs a fabric hammock or "yoga swing" to enhance and deepen traditional yoga postures. Our aerial classes are designed to get you acquainted with the yoga swing and explore all that it has to offer while having some serious fun. The practice may include inversions to decompress the spine and stimulate the flow of blood and fluids, strength and balancing poses to tone the muscles, and restorative poses to soothe the nervous system and quiet the mind. Please see our "Aerial Yoga" page for more information and photos of this playful and liberating practice. *No previous aerial, acrobatic or yoga experience is necessary. Please note that weekly Aerial Classes are priced differently than other Adult Yoga Classes.
Basic Beginner
The basic beginner class is designed to meet the needs of those who are new to yoga or want a refresher course. This class explores the fundamentals of yoga, specific alignment for all the major poses, proper breathing techniques, and discussion of yoga philosophy.
Dynamic Beginner
If you are looking for a beginning yoga class with an element of challenge, this class is for you. No prior experience needed. Students are encouraged to explore static postures as well as dynamic flowing movements while working to increase flexibility, strength, and balance. Introductory information about postures, alignment, breathwork, and relaxation techniques are presented in a light-hearted and supportive atmosphere.
Gentle Yoga
Gentle Yoga is designed for people who want a slower pace with the extra support of props for added stability and balance. It is suitable for all levels, as well as those with specific conditions or injuries. It includes gentle stretches and breathing as well as simple movements designed to systematically increase the range of motion of every major joint and increase energy. This class is suitable for seniors, pregnant women and students with chronic symptoms or injuries.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga emphasizes the calming of the nervous system and teaches the art of relaxation, which has tremendous mental and physical benefits. Multiple props are used to encourage and support this process so that the body may access its innate healing abilities. Melt tension and stress and leave feeling completely refreshed and fully restored. A great class for all levels of students.
Mindful Flow
Mindful Flow is focused on movement as a form of meditation and works on linking body, breath and mind. A vinyasa style of flowing postures is followed by longer held poses that emphasize proper alignment and therapeutic principles. It is challenging, yet restorative and adaptable to all levels.
Hot Yoga
Hot Yoga is a challenging practice emphasizing physical fitness, strength, and breath awareness. The studio temperature is set between 85-95 degrees for this active, dynamic vinyasa style class. The heat enhances flexibility and detoxification. You will sweat, so please bring your own mat and towel for this class. This is one of our most popular classes, so arrive early to secure your spot.
Hot Power Yoga
Hot Power Flow is a class designed for those seeking a playful and fun, yet physically and mentally challenging experience. By combining heat and breath work with conscious, controlled movement, this practice aims to build core and upper-body strength, balance, and inner awareness. Additionally, heat can enhance flexibility and detoxification. You will sweat, so please bring your own mat and towel to this class.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga emphasizes deep poses that open and re-align the connective tissues of the body. Poses are held for 3-5 minutes each, cultivating a peaceful and meditative experience through stillness and self-reflection and promoting greater vitality by opening the energetic pathways in the subtle body.
Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga, often called the "Yoga of Awareness," combines conscious breathing, guided movement, mediation and mantra into powerful sets called kriyas. Practicing Kundalini Yoga helps balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, and enhance creative potential. Through regular practice, students can develop intuition, strength, sensitivity, calmness, wisdom, radiance and grace. This class is suitable for all levels of practice.
Abhaya Yoga
"This is NOT Your Mother's Yoga" Abhaya is a Sanskrit word which means "fearless." Abhaya Yoga is informed by Nancy LaNasa's almost 30 years of yoga practice and study, and her almost 60 years of being carried around in a physical body. In her class you will experience Sanskrit chanting, sacred and profane music, well-informed progressive vinyasa, serious fun, and deep relaxation. "Be fearless and pure; never waver in your determination or your dedication to the spiritual life. Give freely. Be self-controlled, sincere, truthful, loving, and full of the desire to serve. Realize the truth of the scriptures; learn to be detached and to take joy in renunciation. Do not get angry or harm any living creature, but be compassionate and gentle; show good will to all. Cultivate vigor, patience, will, purity; avoid malice and pride. Then, Arjuna, you will achieve your divine destiny." Bhagavad Gita Chapt. 16, 1-3.
