Ten years after opening Bongo in Chelsea, Jeffrey Bell and Andrea Cohen decided it was time to find the next new destination location. They took another chance and choose the far West Village: West 10th Street and the West Side Highway. Bongo in the West Village is still a seafood lounge with creative cocktails but it is a larger, more versatile space. The challenge was how to make it feel as intimate as its Chelsea predecessor. This was accomplished by creating three separate rooms—a Bar Area, a Living Room, and a Den. Each room is filled with a highly-curated selection of Mid-Century Modern Decor and is available for private events.
20th Century designs include Tobia Scarpa, Florence Knoll, Arne Jacobsen, Fritz Hansen, Alvar Aalto, Eero Saarinen, Roger Capron, Paul Mccobb, Overman, Steel Case, Gigeon Kramer, Herman Miller, and Greorge Nelson, who along with Charles and Ray Eames, was a founding father of American modernism.
