Cancellation policy
There is no charge to your account if you provide 12 hours notice. Class Descriptions
Essential Kung Fu
The Essential Kung Fu Workout for men and women teaches the fundamentals of Kung Fu. This class utilizes traditional training methods designed to develop a sound mind and body. In this class students will develop stances, punches, and kicks that will later be used in the various forms we teach. Our conditioning exercise drills will develop speed, power, endurance, flexibility, and balance. Our Kung Fu program is a rejuvinating exercise that develops the mind, body, and spirit. The Essential Kung Fu Workout provides an exciting and challenging new experience while helping you become stronger, focused, and confident. It is this philosophy that gives our members reassurance that they will learn more than just punching and kicking. Some of the benefits of this class are: Muscular Conditioning, Cardiovascular Strength, Flexibility, Confidence, Focus, Stamina, Increased Awareness.
Kung Fu Forms
Our traditional yet innovative forms are based on the ancient knowledge passed down to us from our masters. This time tested format of training provides the best in cardiovascular training, muscular development, while incorporating stretching, and internal breathing exercises that produce a powerful as well as healthy, mind & body! Our kung fu forms incorporate the most effective hand, knee, elbow, and foot techniques with an intense cardio workout. This method of defense enables you to protect yourself in stand-up confrontations before an attacker gets close enough to physically restrain you. Some of the forms we teach are: Dragon, Snake, Tiger, Leopard, Crane, New York Nam Kuen (southern fist), Tiger-Crane Double Shadow Fist.
Self-defense
Bo Law Kung Fu is one of the most effective and efficient forms of self-defense available. You learn to use your entire body as a weapon, developing the ability to defend yourself against assailants much larger and stronger than yourself. Hand, elbow, knee, and foot techniques are taught based on their effectiveness and practical application in street situations. Men and women have all found our methods to be a practical solution to the dangers of increasing crime and violence. In today’s society, your safety is your personal responsibility. Self-defense training is an insurance policy against the hazards of city living. Start now. Begin to experience the safety and confidence that comes with being able to protect your self and those you care for. Some self-defense methods we teach are: Self-Defense Applications, Self-Defense Against Weapons, Bag Training, 2-Man Fighting Sets, Joint Locking, Ground Fighting.
Kung Fu Weapons
Our kung fu weapons are a true extension not only of our barehanded forms, but also of the students themselves. Each weapon is like a new teacher exploring another subject in the vast art of kung fu. The individual weapons have their own techniques and strategies on how to be used. This variety opens the students mind to all aspects of how your body and mind work. Each new weapon will challenge the student to incorporate the different styles into their own understanding, while teaching the to project their thought and power through the weapon itself. Some of the weapons we teach are: Staff, Saber, Spear, Straight Sword, Rattan Cane, Double Butterfly Knives, General Kwan Sword, Tiger Fork.
Young Tigers (ages 10-17)
“The young people of today are our leaders of tomorrow. I’m talking about them tapping into their own inner power, strength and character, to be the young heroes – young tigers – that they are” - Master Koh.
In our new Young Tigers Kung Fu Program, students will learn fundamental strikes, kicks, and stances in a martial art that focuses on total mind and body fitness.
In addition to physical fitness, the Young Tigers Program will teach focus, self-discipline, and respect for self and others. “I’m extremely excited and enthusiastic to introduce this program because this is exactly how I became involved in the wonderful, mysterious and dynamic world of Chinese martial arts,” says Master Paul Koh.
Master Koh has been teaching Kung Fu to adults and children for over 20 years, but this is the first time that Bo Law Kung Fu is offering a program specifically geared toward teens and pre-teens.
