Tucked away just behind the main lobby, the Blue Ox is a favorite watering hole steeped in history and tradition. Features pub style pizza and handcrafted microbrews from the Mt. Hood Brewing Company. Don’t miss the glass murals of legendary Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.
Timberline Lodge was built in 1937, by Oregonians of the Depression Era under the Works Progress Administration. The lodge was nearly finished when it was noticed that there was no bar. Improvising architects altered a space designed for wood storage to create the Blue Ox Bar. The opaque glass mosaic murals illustrate the well known Paul Bunyon legend and his beloved blue ox, Babe.
