We start by adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream at the bottom of the cup, and then place a heaping portion of very fine shaved ice on top. This extremely fine texture allows the flavorful syrup to be absorbed by the snow rather than dripping off of ice chunks and collecting at the bottom of the cup. An optional snow cap topping can then be added. Once you have eaten your way through the snow cap and tasty flavored snow, you reach the ultimate end treat of the ice cream, enhanced by the flavors from the cone.
