Big Belly is located on the second floor between Chillers and Latitudes. It is rumored that J.E. Nicholson and Bernard Dreyfus ran a speak-easy in 1922 above their then-clothing store. Their secret bar was codenamed “Bernie’s Buffet Club”, and it was situated within the same walls that Big Belly now occupies. J.E. Nicholson was known to be fond of a nice pint of beer and he would often “belly up” to the bar. The name “Big Belly” pays homage to Mr. Nicholson. The long wooden bars, exposed brick, large oak barrels and antique fixtures of Big Belly give it a cozy atmosphere that certainly is reminiscent of a speak-easy from the prohibition era. The upper level of Big Belly features a large dance floor, brass pole and DJ booth.
