The needles most often used for Acupuncture are as thin as your hair and about an inch long. The stainless steel needles are used only once and are sterile. Acupuncture is a form of holistic medicine that has been used in China for centuries. The Chinese believe that illness and pain occur when the body's qi or energy flow becomes stuck or stagnant. An acupuncturist will insert very fine, disposable needles into specific points in the body to alter the flow of qi and return the body to a state of balance or health. Beverly Hills Posture may use acupuncture to treat a number of disorders, including:
Neurological disorders, such as neuralgia, insomnia, dizziness, post-stroke recovery, facial palsy, trigeminal neuralgias

Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts that specializes in non-surgical spine care. Treatment involves manual manipulation of the spine, joints and soft tissues and is based upon the principle that the body can heal itself when the skeletal system is correctly aligned and the nervous system is functioning properly. When the bones of the spine are not correctly articulated, referred to as a subluxation, nerve transmission is disrupted and it is this condition that leads to pain in the back, neck, and other areas. Services offered:
Assess disorders by discussion
Observation and examination of patients as well as the use of of diagnostic equipment such as x-rays and a linked device that uses harmonic frequencies to detect spinal misalignments.
Restoration of proper joint motion
Alignment of the spine and skeletal system and normal muscle length and tone through myotherapy and chiropractic techniques, Class IV laser therapy, nutrition and exercise.
Treatment for Neuro-muscular skeletal disorders.
Spinal manipulation for acute lower back pain, neck pain and musculoskeletal pain, herniated disc, scoliosis, and vertebral subluxation complex.
Reduce physical interference to the nervous system
Which may be causing pain, impairment of normal function or lowered resistance to disease through stretching, traction and slow manipulation.
Treatment for allergy, high blood pressure, obesity, asthma, diabetes, menstrual irregularities, dizziness, headache, migraines, pneumonia, issues related to pregnancy and infertility, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and repetitive stress disorders, hyperactivity, indigestion and nutritional disorders.

DRX 9000 Treatment
Our DRX 9000 program is the best in the nation. This technology offers state-of-the-art spinal decompression treatment alongside a three-stage physical therapy program to restore function and get you back in action. We provide one-on-one patient care tailor-made for each specific case, because "every body" is different.
The DRX technology uses angled distraction specific to each lumbar intervertebral disc segment, applying about 80-90% of pull to a single disc segment, resulting in more effective reversal of the disease process. In addition, the software in the DRX program creates an intermittent disc distraction, a major key component in restoring discal hydration and health. Studies have shown the DRX 9000 therapy to be 89.9% effective in relieving low back pain, which may include a ruptured or herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, and or facet syndrome.

Pre- and Postnatal Yoga
Yoga therapy is the adaptation of yoga practices to help people heal from a specific injury, those in chronic pain and as well as a method of injury prevention.
It combines the practice of traditional yoga with an alignment and breath-based approach also congruent with western medical and psychological concepts, as a means of therapy. Yoga Therapy has often been described as the intersection between physical therapy and yoga. The practice of Yoga Therapy addresses healing the whole person and our certified yoga therapists adapt a specific set of postures, breathing techniques, meditation and daily life suggestions for an individual based on their body, constitution, and condition.
Yoga, in itself, brings mindfulness to movement and works intimately with the breath to create a balance of flexibility, strength and endurance in a gentle way.
In addition, a regular yoga practice facilitates a sense of peace, clarity and emotional well being.

Introducing the Beverly Hills Posture Women's Health Center
Pregnancy is one of the most exciting and beautiful events in a woman's life, but it can also take a physical toll on her body. The added weight of the baby coupled with the hormone induced increase in flexibility of the joints and muscles can cause pain in the low back, hips and pelvis, an inability to sit for long periods of time, reduced range of motion, and painful sex. Furthermore, childbirth, whether vaginally or by caesarean, can often result in serious pelvic floor damage such as urinary incontinence, bowel incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. In order to avoid these problems, it's vital that women learn how to strengthen their pelvic floor muscles by practicing some form of preventative rehab such as Pilates and GYROTONIC.® By teaching the mother how to strengthen her core muscles and improve her breathing patterns, Pilates and GYROTONIC® help prepare her both physically and mentally for the challenges of childbirth.
Why Beverly Hills Posture for Prenatal Health and Wellness?
At Beverly HIlls Posture, we believe in the importance of training expectant mothers for the nine month marathon of pregnancy and childbirth. Our teachers are certified in prenatal Pilates and GYROTONIC® and our facility features a full gym as well as three private Pilates rooms. On staff, we also have two physical therapists, an acupuncturist, a massage therapist and Dr. Walker Ozar -- a highly trained, respected chiropractor who also happens to be the father of three and has seen first hand, how important pelvic floor training is to a successful, pain free pregnancy.
Pre- and Postnatal Pilates
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends daily, low impact exercise for all healthy pregnant women.
It's been shown that expectant mothers who exercise have shorter labors, easier deliveries and greater self esteem. Pilates is a fantastic, non impact way of improving overall strength and stability, something that pregnant women lose as their homones surge and their muscles and joints become hyper mobile.
Pilates focuses on the core which includes the pelvic floor.
In a study conducted in Norway, women with pelvic floor training had a lower rate of prolonged second stage labor and experienced less urinary incontinence. Since the pelvic floor muscles form a sling or hammock across the opening of the pelvis, they are responsible for keeping all of the pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, rectum) in place and functioning correctly. Their strength becomes particularly important during pregnancy when the added weight of the fetus can cause these organs to prolapse or slip through the hammock.
Pilates is not only a great way to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles
But it's also highly adaptable which makes it ideal for pregnancy, a time when women's bodies are literally changing daily. As the fetus grows, a mother's center of gravity shifts forward, often throwing her back into a state of lumbar lordosis. This lordosis or curve in the lower back compresses the vertebrae and as the surrounding muscles struggle to compensate, they're thrown into a state of imbalance. This imbalance results in pain. Each Pilates session is individually tailored so an instructor trained in pre-natal Pilates simply picks and modifies the appropriate exercises to lengthen the mother's back out of compression by loosening the muscles that are too tight and tightening the muscles that are too loose thus restoring balance to the body and eliminating pain.
An expectant mother's abs will stretch over 50% of their original length during pregnancy.
It's therefore imperative that they stay strong. Abdominal training in prenatal Pilates focuses on the transversus or deepest layer of the abdominals. A strong transversus supports the growing uterus, decreases pressure on the lower back and pelvic floor, helps control the size of diastasis recti that usually occurs around 20 weeks, and assists the mother in regaining her pre-baby body postpartum.
Also, many mothers express worry about "pushing."
Since the transversus is the muscle that aids with pushing, Pilates can help make a mother feel more confident in her abilities thus reducing anxiety. Pilates is also a mind/body exercise that uses the breath to keep the mother focused on, and connected to her changing body during the seismic shifts of pregnancy. This connection becomes especially important during childbirth.
Pre- and Postnatal GYROTONIC®
GYROTONIC® is a great method for strengthening the core muscles of the pelvic floor, abdominals and back, but while Pilates tends to focus on linear movements.
GYROTONIC® is very three dimensional.
The exercises are often performed seated, and its circular movements are noted for increasing flexibility, overall body strength and mobility.
GYROTONIC® is also nonimpact, but there is a cardiovascular element to these exercises.
This makes it an ideal choice for pregnant women. The increase in blood circulation helps prevent swollen legs and varicose veins, energizes the body to combat fatigue, and helps to relieve the constipation that's often associated with pregnancy.
GYROTONIC® is also taught one on one
So that the instructor trained in prenatal GYROTONIC® can adjust the exercises to not only fit each individual mother, but each stage of her evolving pregnancy.
Pre- and Postnatal Yoga
Our specialized yoga therapists work one-to-one with women through their entire journey of pregnancy.
With each trimester of pregnancy come many changes in the body.Prenatal yoga is specifically formulated to meet the physical demands and challenges pregnancy can bring.
What is Prenatal Yoga?
Much like other types of childbirth preparation classes, prenatal yoga is a multifaceted approach to exercise that encourages, stretching, strengthening and focused breathing. Research suggests that prenatal yoga is safe and offers countless benefits for both moms-to-be and their babies. These benefits include, but are not limited to:
Reduced stress and anxiety
Increased strength, flexibility and endurance of muscles needed for childbirth
Decreased lower back pain, nausea, carpel tunnel syndrome, headaches and shortness of breath
Decreased risk of preterm labor, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and intrauterine growth restriction
Beverly Hills Posture offers a unique therapeutic yoga program addressing fertility issues and challenges, called Strong Yoga®4Fertility. This specialized and comprehensive program teaches many key elements in understanding and honoring the body's needs while trying to conceive.
What is Strong Yoga®4Fertility?
Created by Brenda Strong (National Spokesperson for the American Fertility Association), Strong Yoga®4Fertility
Is a proprietary approach to yoga for fertility which "uses the ancient healing wisdom of yoga and applies it to the modern issue of reproductive difficulty." This unique program offers expert instruction specific to and ideal for fertility. The specificity of these teachings is a key element in understanding and honoring the body's needs while trying to conceive.
Yoga Helps To
By combining yoga, breath work, meditation, visualization, and the incorporation of the Fertility Ball Yoga Method®, this practice helps to:
Release tightness in muscle and connective tissue
Increase blood flow to the reproductive organs
Nourish the neuro-endocrine system
Significantly reduces stress
Stress and Fertility
Science reveals that chronic stress can contribute to a variety of disease in the body, including heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune disease, and a significant disruption on reproduction. Chronic stress leads to chronic elevation of stress hormones. Stress hormones, such as cortisol, can impede reproductive hormonal function, impacting the system in a variety of ways, including:
Production of fewer eggs to fertilize
Timing of ovulation
Suppression of progesterone and/or a shortened luteal phase
The possible creation of a "blighted uterine environment" by promoting an inflammatory response that is hostile to the developing embryo.
Benefits of Yoga and Meditation
Studies performed on the benefits of yoga and meditation has shown these practices lower blood pressure, decrease levels of stress hormones and significantly improve the subjects' sense of wellbeing.
"Reproductive health experts have long wondered about the impact that stress may have on fertility, thus impeding a woman's ability to conceive, " says Alice Domar, Ph.D., Executive Director of The Domar Center for Mind/Body Health and a renowned researcher in fertility. One of the studies she conducted involved infertile women who had been trying to get pregnant for at least one year with no success. Some of the women were put into a 10-week mind/body program that included yoga, meditation, nutrition and lifestyle education and support to change negative thought patterns. 55% of the participants in this program became pregnant within the next year, compared to only 20% of women in a control group.
Yoga and Fertility
As a gentler form of exercise and when led by an expert
Yoga is safe to do during an entire cycle when a woman is trying to conceive, even when she is being assisted by fertility treatments. If you are practicing yoga while trying to conceive, it is imperative that you seek out a guide that is trained in the field and understands some of the specific contraindications as you move through a cycle (whether a natural or assisted cycle).
Yoga (and specific breathing practices) improves physical health
Keeping blood and energy circulating freely as it helps rid toxins via the lungs. This is especially important for women on fertility drugs to help their bodies rid any toxic effects of those drugs.
Yoga reduces the physical effects of stress providing an antidote to the negative physical ramifications of depression, anger, anxiety, fear, etc.
Yoga allows one the space to feel less 'out of control' as this can also impact a woman's fertility journey at a more psychological level.
