The BBQ Shack opened in June 2004 under ownership of Steve and Janelle Carpenter in a trailer just down from its current location, off of first street. Offering only outside seating and a drive thru. In September renovation started on an old concrete building that once long ago used to be a Dairy Queen which now is our current location.
With the Grand Opening slated for September 2004, controversy began to stir about our pigs. This delayed our opening; in spite of this we remained focused on opening our doors for business. In December 2004 we reached a compromise with the city. They had one condition; we now were allowed to serve our food; however we must cover the pigs with a drape until we resolve the issue with the city.
