About Us
Located in the historic corridor of old Minden, The Minden Food Company was established in 2004. The property is the original site of Alan Reed's Family business, Warren Reed Insurance which was founded in 1947 by Alan's father, Warren. Over the years, the property served insurance and real estate customers of the Reed family, and it housed the first permanent library site in the Carson Valley.
It sits just across the street from the historic Minden Inn, where Clark Gable was married, and other noted guests visited, including Hollywood actor Douglas Fairbanks and Pulitzer Prize Winner and Brigadier General John J. Pershing of World War 1 fame.
The Reed family invites you to visit their beautiful restaurant designed by award winning architect Niccolo Valerio of Beverly Hills. The restaurant features three dining sections, two bars, and a private lounge (all kept warm and cozy by two large fireplaces) as well as the popular Chef's Table. Openness abounds beneath a twenty-two foot ceiling. While you're here, take a peek at the private wine room, then catch your breath as you gaze from our balcony at the Tuscan mural painted by San Diego artist Kathleen King.
It's no wonder that customers stop and marvel, "Are we in San Francisco?" … "This feels like Seattle or Napa." The ambience is similar, but you're at the Minden Food Company in Minden. The staff is eager to serve you and well-known chef Christoph Waldburger stands ready to delight your palate.
