It began with butter! We started at the source: Julia Child. Her light, buttery brioche was Avalon's first breakfast sweets, evolving into our signature sticky buns and our riff on "pain aux chocolat."
Sweeter than bread, lighter than cake, brioche makes an elegant, understated breakfast. Bread pudding or French toast? A little crazy. PB and J; grilled cheese; or say, nutella panini? Truly outlandish. By the loaf or a traditional bun.

Dequindre Cut Trail Mix
The Dequindre Cut, an abandoned below-grade railroad track was transformed into a unique bicycle and walking path in May 2009, east of downtown. Our newest cookie is classic oatmeal, generously endowed with dried cranberries, raisins, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Two parts indulgence, one part health food.
Organic peanut butter and our not-so-secret ingredient: a touch of coffee. Big, chewy, ever-so-slightly doughy in the middle. It's hard to make your way through a whole one. Then again, it's hard not to.
Sea Salt Chocolate Chip
It's that far-away look in the eye when customers stop us on the street; It's the moment of reverant silence when they are handed across the counter. A smaller, chewier chocolate chunk cookie with course sea salt sprinkled on top. Overall Avalon staff favorite.

A young, novice sweets baker offered to try some vegan sweets by replacing dairy products and sugar with vegan substitutes. Since then we've learned a thing or two. Now our vegan products are the fastest-growing part of our sweets line. We got the message loud and clear from our vegan customers: vegan baked goods are yummy too! Now, even non-vegans agree.

The narrative of Avalon has been told often, yet time and time again people tell us that our story has inspired them in countless ways. In the hopes that it might inspire others, we offer not only how we got here ("Our Story") and what we aspire to accomplish ("Triple Bottom Lines") but who keeps us going ("Meet Our Staff"). We consider ourselves "midwives" who have had the privilege being part of the creation of Avalon. Although it has grueling in ways we could not have imagined, Avalon continues to bless us in ways we could never have imagined as well.
