Duration: 1 hour; FREE; Karate has been a popular form of martial arts in the U.S. since the end of World War II, when veterans returning from Okinawa began opening up the first dojos in the country. ----- And then, of course, The Karate Kid happened. This class will teach you the fundamentals of this venerable self-defense style. You'll work on your punches, kicks, and throws under the guidance of a trained sensei. You'll practice what you learned on the mat in controlled sparring matches. In addition to self-defence abilities, you'll develop your strength, flexibility, and body control, while getting a great workout. Karate also instils greater discipline and mental focus in its practitioners, making it an all-around, great martial art to study. The classics never go out of style.
