Augusta pioneered private, in-home dog training in the Twin Cities over 21 years ago. Since then we have offered the finest in-home dog training services. Our training is customized to your needs and your dog's unique personality. We offer a variety of training packages for the beginner through advanced dog. Prices vary, call one of our offices to set up an initial consultation and evaluation. We offer daytime, evening and Saturday appointments to accommodate busy schedules.

What to Expect

Training lessons are approximately one hour in duration. Generally, we meet every other week and offer flexible training times to accommodate busy schedules. During your lesson you should anticipate 40 – 45 minutes of hands-on training with the balance of the lesson devoted to addressing specific questions or issues. Each lesson is customized to your particular training needs and your dog's behavior, learning style and attitude.

Training lessons are specifically tailored to your needs and your dog's unique personality

Once obedience commands are taught we show you how to integrate them into the everyday environment resulting in good manners around the home

Expect Homework! The more you practice with your dog, the faster you will see results

Since each dog is treated as an individual you and your pet will advance at your own pace

Board & Train

With our Board and Train package, your dog will receive positive, quality training while enjoying the amenities of group play, private suites and lots of individual attention.

We Offer 3 Board and Train Packages

Board and Train Foundation

For dogs 6 months or older with no formal training. Introduce the basic commands of Sit, Wait, Down, Stay, and controlled leash walking.

Board and Train Advanced

For dogs who have received previous training. Work on improving reliable, one-command responses to basic commands. Additional skills to be added by owner request includes Place, Heel, and Bed.

Advanced Off-Leash Control

For dogs who have completed Advanced training whose owner seeks reliable off-leash control. -Call for details.

Duration

Each board and train package is 4 weeks in duration.

Includes overnight care in one of our private suites

Brush up Training

Keep your Dog's Petiquette Picture Perfect When He/she Is Boarding with Us.

Brush Up Training sessions are an excellent add-on amenity for shorter boarding stays.

Sessions are 30 minutes in duration and are a GREAT compliment to both boarding and daycare visits. Select daily or every other day sessions to enhance your dog's stay with us and polish critical obedience skills.

Dog Training Classes

Dog training classes at long lake. We proudly offer a variety of classes depending upon your dog's age and experience. Classes are one hour in duration and meet once a week for 6 weeks. Cost is $120 per 6 week course. Enroll on-line or stop in at our Long Lake location and complete enrollment form. Enrollment closes the Wednesday prior to the start of the session.

Classes

Puppy Kindergarten

Mondays at Noon, Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., Saturdays at 8:15 a.m. Designed for puppies 7-16 weeks (at time of enrollment). We focus on:

Common topics such as housebreaking, crate training, nipping, jumping

Introduction of early obedience commands & life skills

Confidence building through puppy appropriate Agility training.

Puppy socialization in a supervised setting.

Puppies are segregated by size with active owner involvement.

Puppy Basic

Mondays at 1:15 p.m., Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m., Saturdays at 9:30 a.m.

Ages 5 months to 7 months of age

For puppies who have either completed a Puppy Kindergarten course or who are new to obedience classes

Good manners and basic obedience skills are taught in an age appropriate, positive manner

Introduction to basic commands include sit, down stay, wait, come and leash walking

Ongoing socialization with other puppies

Confidence building activities that include safe introduction of Agility equipment.

Family Dog 1 - Basic Obedience

Mondays at 2:30 p.m., Thursdays at 6:00 p.m., Saturdays at 10:45 a.m.

Dogs over 8 months of age or older puppies who have completed Puppy Kindergarten and Puppy Basic

Skills taught include controlled leash walking, sit, down, wait at doorways, come when called, introduction of Go to Mat

Commands are taught in a fun, pet friendly manner & gently enforced to ensure reliable performance

Family Dog 2 - Intermediate Obedience

Introduction to Agility Class introduces dogs and owners to the Action-Packed sport of Agility dog training.

You and your dog will have fun and build teamwork by learning to navigate tunnels, tires, jumps and A -Frames.

Extra emphasis is placed on learning how to navigate the obstacles safely & equipment height is adjusted for beginners

We also teach training games to build motivation and teamwork!

Scent Work

Augusta is Now Offering Scent Work Classes! Scent Work is an exciting new dog sport utilizing a dog's amazing sense of smell. It is based on the work of professional detection dogs that are used for drug and explosive device searches. Scent Work training is rapidly growing in popularity. It is one of the American Kennel Club's newest dog sports in which a family dog can earn performance titles. Many classes have a two to three month wait list to join!

At Augusta in Long Lake we are now offering Scent Work classes on Monday evenings starting in January 2020.

Beginner and Intermediate Classes follow the same format of our obedience classes.

They are 6 weeks in duration meeting once per week for 1 hour.

Training Class Enrollment

$124.74. Training fee is $120 which includes a $4.74 on-line enrollment processing fee.

Class size is limited so enroll early! Enroll on-line or submit a completed enrollment form with payment at our Long Lake location.

Your paid receipt is confirmation of enrollment in your selected class. Please bring a copy of your paid receipt to the first day of class.

Classes are closed for enrollment the Wednesday prior to the start of a new session - see calendar.

Augusta reserves the right to cancel a class if minimum enrollment is not achieved. Owners will be given the option to select a different class time or a refund of class fee.

Owners may cancel and receive a full refund prior to the closing of the class. Once a class is closed we will not refund class fee.

Augusta offers Private Suites at our Long Lake Facility.

Our roomy suites provide a quiet retreat for your dog after a day of group play. Each suite is comfortably appointed with raised beds, flat screen TVs and full door windows to give your dog a full view of the day's activities.

A Private Suite reservation also includes 4 hours of group play each day. Select one or several of our many boarding amenities to enhance your dog's visit with us.

For multi-dog families check out our roomy bungalows. Designed for families with multiple dogs, our bungalows are perfect for canine families who want to board together. Well-appointed with outside views, comfy beds and a quieter environment, our bungalows are also a favorite of our senior dogs.

Long Lake

A $50 Holiday deposit per dog to reserve New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas. Holiday Cancellations must be made 5 days in advance. Amenities include Stuffed Kongs™, Spa services, Brush-Up™ dog training Lessons, Neighborhood Stroll™ walks, Agility Sport Training, Bed Time Stories and one-one one cuddle time.

Private Suites are available for dogs 7 weeks of age and older.

Dogs must meet Screening Requirements.

We require the following vaccines: Rabies, Distemper / Parvovirus combination and Bordetella.

Boarding dogs are charged for the day they check in and each subsequent day of boarding.

Check out time is 11:00 a.m. Monday – Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sundays.

If your dog is a first time boarder we recommend booking a private suite for their first stay.

First time boarders also benefit from a trial "day board" (a 4- 6 hour visit between 7:00a.m. and 6:00 p.m.)

Amenities such as Brush Up Training, Neighborhood Strolls, Run and Fun Playtime and Stuffed Kongs can be added for a nominal fee.

We want your dog's stay to be as stress free as possible.

Please bring your dog's food, pre-measured and bagged per meal, to ensure he or she is receiving the same brand and quantity of food while at home.

Although we provide blankets to cuddle on, dogs may bring their own blanket.

Durable chew bones and toys can also be sent along.

We will not give rawhide or other questionable chew toys.

Do not bring any item that you do not want destroyed or chewed upon.

Pack your dog's pillow as everybody loves a Slumber Party! Offered exclusively at our Long Lake facility your dog can enjoy cage-free boarding. We offer comfy beds, flat screen TVs, 24-hour supervision and lots of fun. Add Stuffed Kongs, spa services or individual one-on-one time with one of our friendly staff members to enhance your dog's boarding experience. Slumber Party Overnight care is great for:

We offer overnight care dogs 7 weeks of age and older.

Slumber Party dogs are required to pass a screening and evaluation to ensure compatibility.

Slumber Party dogs over 9 month of age must be spayed or neutered.

Slumber Party boarding is excellent for adult dogs who are polite, people-oriented and enjoy the company of other dogs.

If your dog is uncomfortable in large dog pack settings we recommend trying one of our private suites.

Your dog's temperament and tolerance of other dogs may change over time, As such, dogs who have not participated in Slumber Party boarding in over 6 months may be subject to evaluation and screening.

Slumber Party boarders who are not compatible with group play or who are disruptive during quiet-times may be moved to a private suite to ensure the safety and comfort of all of our guests.

Dog must be protected by heartworm and a flea and tick preventative

Dogs that appear ill will be immediately removed from group interactions and place a call to their owner.

$50 Holiday deposit is required for all major Holidays and MEA weekend. Holiday Cancellations must be made 5 days in advance.

Grooming

Our Doggy Day Spa offers full service grooming, specialty baths, Touch-Up grooming, nail trims and teeth brushing services.

We also groom cats!! Our groomers use only pet friendly techniques and provide extra TLC while your pet is being groomed.

Every effort is made to ensure that your pet has an enjoyable spa experience.

Our Groomers are Committed to Providing a Stress Free Experience by Using Pet-Friendly Techniques.

We offer specialty baths, de-shed treatments and fur facials. Pair a grooming appointment with a half day of daycare to ensure a fun, positive grooming experience.
