About Us
Atticus Bookstore Cafe has been an independent New Haven institution since 1976. Having originally started the business as a bookstore, in 1981 owner Charles Negaro was determined to have a cafe like those he has visited in Europe. And presto... here we are decades later combining nourishment for both mind and body.
We pride ourselves on quality. Quality of the books and merchandise chosen to offer for purchase, quality of the meals served in our cafe, quality of the staff that connects with our customers. We spend our workdays, and sometimes our personal time, thinking about and discussing what we can present to those who choose to walk through our doors again and again. We pride ourselves on the shared experience. In short, we care.
