What is the general format of the class?
You will start with a warm-up, then perform an upper body work out with light dumbbells. Next, you experience a total body barre workout, finishing with deep sculpting abdominal work. Plus, burn a whole lot of calories burned.
How long is the class?
The Booty Barre is 55 minutes long and will start and finish on time due to the nature of how the studio classes are scheduled.
How many classes do you suggest a week?
For best results it's recommended to take at least 2-4 classes a week.
What age range is this class designed for?
The Booty Barre is for all ages from teenagers to soccer moms to baby boomers look at the level of the class listed on the schedule.
Who teaches the classes?
All Booty Barre teachers have been trained and approved by Tracey Mallett the creator. They also all hold either a Pilates certification and/or a personal trainer certification.

Joseph H. Pilates is the creator of what's referred to as the Method. We utilize principles developed by Pilates to enhance the fitness programs we develop and to assist with rehabilitation in a typical physical therapy session. Pilates exercise can be done either on a mat or on special apparatus designed to either enhance or assists with the exercise. Some of the equipment used include the Reformer, the trapeze table (sometimes referred to as the Cadillac), multi chair or wunda chair and a host of other smaller toys to help strengthen and tone the entire body.
Pilates is unique in that it strengthens the body as well as improving flexibility. Core strengthening focusing on the abdominals is another big key component to Pilates. The lack of ballistic movements also makes this form of exercise ideal for people of all ages and all abilities. Dancers and athletes, including golfers, swimmers, football players have used Pilates to improve flexibility, core strength and most importantly performance.
Private classes are perfect for those who are new to this method of exercise or who have taken a break from Pilates and need a refresher. Working one-on-one with our certified instructors, all sessions are personalized for your specific needs and goals.
Partner sessions are more cost effective than private sessions, and are perfect if you don't feel comfortable working out in a group format. Bring your own partner or we can help you find one.
Group Pilates sessions include up to 5 people working out together with one Pilates instructor. You'll work out on the Reformer as well as other equipment and small apparatus into the session. As an outpatient physical therapy clinic we treat all orthopedic injuries.
Every injury is different therefore individual treatments will vary. All our therapists are trained in orthopedic, manual techniques as well as proper exercise protocols. All orthopedic injuries will eventually require some form of strengthening and at ATP we have a variety of tools at our disposal including: weights, Pilates, TRX (suspension straps), cardio machines, medicine balls and much more. No matter what sport you play there is always risk of injury.
No matter what the injury, we can treat it at ATP. We've been treating athletes of all kinds from young club athletes to the older weekend warrior for over 13 years. We have a variety of way to strengthen the athlete to get them up and running including TRX, Pilates, Rip Trainer, battle ropes and free weights. Many injured athletes feel stronger after their therapy is finished than before they got injured.
ATP utilizes the beautiful aquatic therapy pool at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center to deliver the best aquatic therapy in Los Angeles. The soothing 91° water is the perfect environment to relax tight muscles and loosen stiff joints. Water is the perfect medium for patients who are unable to tolerate land-based therapy due to pain, decreased range of motion, muscle weakness, or de-conditioning. If you find that land exercises make your condition worse or if you've just had surgery and want to start your rehab in a joint friendly environment, give aquatic therapy a try! All sessions are one hour long and all you need is a suit, towel, drink, hat and a great attitude! Once you graduate from the aquatic program you can finish your rehab at ATP's clinic in South Pasadena. We look forward to seeing in you the pool!! The three main principles of water are buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure and resistance. These principles allow for decreased joint pressure, decreased swelling and increased strengthening respectively. The demands of pregnancy and the continuous changes to the expecting mother's body can often result in pain and instability. Your body undergoes many changes with pregnancy, including increased laxity in your ligaments and joints. As your baby grows, your center of gravity shifts forward, resulting in postural changes that cause back, hip, and leg pain. At ATP we can reduce your pain through manual therapy techniques, postural education, and strengthening exercises that safely follow pregnancy precautions. Our specialized focus on Pilates rehabilitation offers a safe and gentle exercise program specifically modified for any stage of pregnancy. Strengthening and stabilizing will improve your function and reduce pain during your pregnancy, as well as prepare and assist you during labor, aide in a quick recovery, and return you to your pre-pregnancy state. Common orthopedic diagnoses of the prenatal patient include, but are not limited to:
Sciatica (pain radiating from the buttock down the leg)
Pubic pain and/or pubic symphysis separation

Our physical therapists are skilled in addressing the needs of the new mother, whether you are experiencing neck and back pain or pelvic floor dysfunction. At ATP, we integrate manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercise to address post-partum joint dysfunction and muscle imbalance. Your physical therapy treatment will address safe ways to protect your body while caring for your growing baby, including lifting, carrying, and feeding techniques. We will facilitate a return to pre-pregnancy function and integrate a fitness program into your busy new life as a mom. Our physical therapists are in close communication with our personal training team and will work to transition you to an exercise program that will assist you in reaching your fitness goals, whether it's returning to your pre-pregnancy size or feeling better than ever. Postpartum conditions that physical therapy can address include:
Floor dysfunctions including urinary/fecal incontinence
Incontinence is when one is unable to restrain natural discharges or evacuations of urine or feces.
One of the most effective conservative methods of treating urinary and fecal incontinence is through pelvic floor exercise. Specific muscle training, in addition to a combination of a good bladder health, proper posture, core and pelvic floor strengthening can control up to 95% of the symptoms of incontinence, minimizing or eliminating the need for medications and/or surgery.
At ATP, a physical therapist completes a thorough evaluation including
but not limited to, an analysis of your eating, drinking, and voiding habits; assessment of your posture, hip strength/flexibility, body mechanics and gait, as well as abdominal and pelvic floor strength.
Treatment may include bladder and/or bowel retraining, manual therapy techniques
hip and core strengthening utilizing traditional and Pilates-based methods and a progressive pelvic floor strengthening program utilizing functional training and biofeedback. Biofeedback is a safe and pain-free method of evaluating and treating the pelvic floor, allowing the patient to see pelvic floor contractions on a computer screen. It is an effective tool in training patients to perform a proper Kegel, and progress pelvic floor strength.
Approximately 61% of women with chronic pelvic go undiagnosed. There are many different types of pelvic pain with many different causes, and physical therapy is effective in the treatment of pelvic pain related to musculoskeletal origin.
