Massage Therapy is the therapeutic manual manipulation of soft tissue including muscles, tendons and ligaments, by applying pressure to the body.
Swedish Massage
The most common form of massage therapy is called Swedish Massage. This type of massage usually incorporates a combination of one or more of the six basic Swedish Massage strokes.
Massage Therapy should be tailored to your own particular needs.
We will ask you what you want from your session, and do our best to provide the type of massage therapy you need. Some clients want a relaxation type of massage to help ease the stress and tension of everyday life or of traveling. Other clients have more specific areas of pain that require concentrated attention. Common areas that need more focus are the neck, shoulders, and back. The amount of pressure from the massage strokes is something we will confer with you about during your massage session. Some clients will prefer only moderate pressure and others will want a stronger deep tissue type of massage. Problem areas often require a specific concentration of stronger pressure, however it should not cause an excessive amount of pain and you are encouraged to let your therapist know if the pressure ever feels like too much. There are many other forms of touch therapy that are practiced besides the basic forms of Swedish Massage. Other modalities and specializations that we offer are listed on this website.

Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy is a subtle yet powerful healing modality very useful in bringing the body to a state of balance.
Craniosacral Therapy was developed by Dr. John Upledger, an osteopathic physician, after years of research & clinical application based on the theories of osteopath Dr. William Sutherland. Anna became interested in this form of healing after several of her massage clients who had incurred neck & back injuries in auto accidents reported that they were able to achieve lasting relief from chronic pain after being referred to a Craniosacral Therapist. Anna took her training through The Upledger Institute in 2002 and continued her education in 2012.
The Craniosacral system consists of the protective membranes surrounding & supporting the brain,
the lining of the cranium, the covering of the spinal column and the cerebrospinal fluid which ebbs & flows at a rate of 8-12 seconds per cycle. This rhythm can be a window into the bodies internal condition and is felt at various places, including at the base of the skull, the shoulders, the ribcage, the hipbones, thighs and ankles as an external, then internal rotation. It represents the bodies hydraulic system as well as supporting the entire electronic system (nervous system). It is supposedly the last of the involuntary rhythms to shut down when we die. Due to accidents, injuries, or even the act of being born, nerve impingements or restrictions can occur anywhere along the Craniosacral system causing all variety of illness, discomfort, and dysfunction. By following a gentle, light-pressure protocol, the bodies natural ability to heal is enhanced, improving brain & spinal cord function, restoring immune system response as well as reducing mental & physical stress.
A full Craniosacral Therapy session is performed while the client is fully clothed and takes approximately 1 hour.
Some of Anna's clients like to combine full or upper body massage with cranial work in a 60 or 90 minute session. Clients ofter say that the addition of this modality takes them much deeper into the relaxation, leaving them feeling very balanced, optimistic, and enhanced on many levels.
Common Ailments
Among the many common ailments that can be relieved by Craniosacral Therapy are:
Migraine Headaches
TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint pain)
Chronic neck & shoulder pain
Fibromyalgia/Connective Tissue Disorder
Emotional Difficulties
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Learning Disabilities
Pain in Joints & Muscles
Scoliosis
Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic approach to healing and maintaining health that dates back over five thousand years to ancient Egypt.
Reflexology works primarily through the Nervous System, the Endocrine System, and through the Meridians. The theory is that all systems of the body (muscles, bones, organs, and glands) are represented on both the hands and feet and these systems can be affected by "reflexing" or applying pressure to these particular points, to release energy and send signals to the various systems of the body to return them to normal function. Reflexology creates a state of complete relaxation and balancing of energy throughout the entire body. With all systems of the body in a state of balance or "homeostasis", at that point the body begins to heal itself.
