Obedience Training

our obedience program is suitable for most large breed dogs whether they will be gun dogs or simply companions. we collar condition all of our dogs to sit, here, and heel. the basic obedience program takes about 4-6 weeks to complete depending on the dog. we encourage getting the owners involved by setting up weekly appointments so you can learn along with your dog. learning the correct commands and appropriate corrections are very important in building an obedient relationship with your dog.

Gun Dog Training

all of our gun dogs also go through the obedience program mentioned above along with being force fetched during the collar conditioning phase once the dog is through force fetch we begin on marks in the field with live birds. we simulate walks with planted live birds and set up hunt test scenarios daily. at this stage your dog will also begin his/her waterwork.

Boarding

we have two buildings to house both training and boarding dogs. our main building used mostly for boarding dogs contains 20 indoor/outdoor runs. the building is heated and air conditioned with 5ft. x 5ft. indoor kennels and a door going into a 5ft. x 10ft. outside run. our second building, which is used mainly for our training dogs, is comprised of twenty 4ft. x 10ft. all indoor runs. this building is also heated and air conditioned.

About Us

Todd has been training hunting dogs for over 10 years and brings tremendous passion and knowledge of retrievers to his training approach. Todd participates in AKC Hunt Tests throughout the spring and summer, handling many client dogs and some of our own. We encourage you to come out for training sessions while your dog is being trained at Arrowhead Kennels. We believe the training process for you as a handler is just as important as the training your dog is receiving.
