This class is for students who have taken our Beginner class or for students who already have a grasp of the basics of knitting, purling, casting on and off and want to broaden their skills. Topics vary and may include new casting on and casting off techniques, increasing and decreasing, stripes, beginner lace patterns, and designing basic hat patterns. Students may also bring in any project for general troubleshooting and guidance.
Beginning Knitting Workshop
This class is for absolute beginners or for those who are still learning the basics. No experience required. Learn knitting techniques for casting on, knitting, purling, binding off and more. This special 2-session format allows time to practice between sessions then get some practical tips to increase your pleasure and quality of workmanship. Start your own cowl, scarf or poncho while learning the basics of a fun, creative hobby.
Small Things Sweater
Learn how to make this cleverly written, top-down baby sweater by Carina Spencer. If you've been wanting to branch out your knitting skills and are yearning to knit sweaters, this is a great intro class. There are many new skills to learn including a provisional cast on, picking up stitches, and increasing a raglan sleeve. This sweater is a perfect gift for that special baby in your life.
Finally, a scarf to use up all your half-finished balls of yarns from other projects! The Leftie scarf can be knit in any number of colors, yarns, and weights, and uses short rows to create a repeating leaf motif along one side of the shawl. Students should be familiar with all techniques covered in Beginning Knitting, but this class could serve as a great introduction to short rows.
Entrelac is a knitting technique that creates the illusion of a woven fabric. It looks complicated, but it's much easier than it looks, making this a perfect class for an advanced beginner! Any yarn or color combinations can be used in this 2-hour class, where we will be starting work on an entrelac scarf. Students in this class should be familiar with casting on, knitting and purling, and casting off.
