Barolo, Coppo, Barolo, Piedmont, Italy
$40.00
About The Wine: Responsible for some of the most elegant and age-worthy wines in the world, Nebbiolo, named for the ubiquitous autumnal fog (called nebbia in Italian), is the star variety of northern Italy's Piedmont region. Grown throughout the area, as well as in the neighboring Valle d'Aosta and Valtellina, it reaches its highest potential in the Piedmontese villages of Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero. Outside of Italy, growers are still very much in the experimentation stage but some success has been achieved in parts of California. Somm Secret—If you're new to Nebbiolo, start with a charming, wallet-friendly, early-drinking Langhe Nebbiolo or Nebbiolo d' Alba.

In 1958, Masi was in the forefront of the work to identify the historic "cru" vineyard sites for Amarone

Cabernet Sauvignon, Frog's Leap, Rutherford, Napa Valley
$69.00
Grape Varieties: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc. About The Wine: Occasionally, we like to say as winemakers that we would gladly hit a repeat button on a great vintage—and while usually meant in jest, the 2019 vintage gave us just such an opportunity. The 2019 growing season was long and warm, with cool nights, which helped to set the vines up beautifully for an extended harvest season. A little extra heat at harvest compared with the previous year gave the 2019 wines an extra dose of power and tannin, but the wine still abounds in the famous Rutherford 'Dust' – defined for us by a synergy of herbs and black fruit, tension between the flavors, and a long finish reminiscent of rough velvet. This powerful and delicious vintage will be one for the ages, and will in time develop all of the hallmarks of a wine that reflects our home here in Rutherford. I recommend a healthy decant if you decide to open a bottle early, and please cellar a few more for the long haul. About The Producer: Believing that a grapevine should be grown in healthy soil that supports all the nutrient needs of the plant, Frog's Leap has been farming organically since 1988. We also believe that most of the great and historic wines of the world have been made from non-irrigated grapevines, and to that end Frog's Leap farms all of its vineyards without irrigation. We adhere to the premise that the greatest wines are those that most truly reflect their soil, climate and circumstance (collectively referred to as" terroir"), and that it is the winemaker's role to simply stand back and let the natural beauty of the grapes show through. We don't make great wine, we grow it

Not only the indigenous grapes of the island, Nero d' Avola and Grillo are included, but also the international varietals such as Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon find the ideal habitat in the Sicilian soil. About The Wine: Fonseca 10 Year Old Tawny is russet in colour with brilliant crimson highlights and a fragrant, ripe-fruit bouquet. Its smooth, silky texture and subtle oak nuances are balanced by a fresh acidity and tannic "grip" that culminate in a long, elegant, plumy finish. At the same time the wine becomes progressively smoother and mellower, its aromas gaining in richness and complexity. Ten years of wood ageing has given this wine its characteristic tawny colour and its elegant and complex nose full of rich 'fruit cake' flavours, delicate nuttiness and hints of spice and fine oak. About The Producer: Established in 1815, Fonseca belongs in the first rank of Vintage Port houses. It is regarded as one of the most stylistically consistent of the classic Vintage Port houses and its Ports have been made by five generations of the Guimaraens family since its foundation. The firm's three estates of Panascal, Cruzeiro and Santo António are the heart of the distinctive character of Fonseca's Vintage Ports. Fonseca's respect for the vineyard and the unique environment of the Douro Valley expresses itself in the firm's leadership in the field of sustainable viticulture. In 2006 it became the first house to offer a Port made entirely from organically produced grapes. Fonseca is the only Port house with four 100 Point scoring wines. About The Producer: Armando De Zan, owner of Candoni Wines and other prestigious brands, has created the Carletto label to honor his beloved uncle and role model, Carletto, who was awarded the esteemed title of Cavaliere del Lavoro - Order of Merit for Labor for his outstanding contributions to viticulture. This national order of chivalry was established in 1923 by Italy's King Vittorio Emanuele III. Carletto was a well-known agronomist with a passion for uncovering the most authentic indigenous Italian varietals, such as the preeminent Prosecco of Treviso, Pinot Grigio from Veneto, and others hailing from the region. Carletto Wines are Italian classics, and the creation of this label is our way of sharing these great traditions with our American friends
