Creating Characters From Your Life Stories
$85.00
Alice plays multiple characters in her solo shows. In this workshop, she shares her process for creating identifiable and vivid characters. Students will use their life experiences as a springboard for generating original characters, by telling stories from different points of view, and by fictionalizing and transforming those stories for the stage. Embracing both the comic and the poignant, we will experiment with physical and vocal transformations, gesture, and language to find a unique voice for each character. Partner work and close observation will provide additional source material for character invention. Each student will have an opportunity to present a one-minute original piece with three contrasting characters. Alice will offer feedback to students about applying these techniques to their future shows. This fun, hands-on workshop is open to participants of all levels, whether you are just starting out or already a seasoned performer.
