Yin Yoga is the perfect compliment to the mostly active, vigorous yoga offered at Akahsa Yoga. In our Yin Yoga classes, you will hold a series of floor postures for several minutes each. As a result of holding these postures while remaining connected to your breath, the deep connective tissues of the body will begin to release. This quiet, yet intense practice will challenge you to surrender your mind and be still in your discomfort.

Inferno Hot Pilates
Hot Pilates is a training system which combines Pilates principles with high intensity interval training and is performed in a heated room. It creates long lean muscle mass, burns fat, and increases fitness levels. It also creates a stronger core, improves circulation, and increases flexibility. It is performed on a yoga mat making it zero impact, protecting your joints and muscles from the pounding of other exercises like running and jumping. Hot Pilates combines cardio and muscle toning in a heated room. The high intensity interval training keeps your heart rate up, helping you burn fat. The Pilates principles sculpt you body, creating long lean muscle mass. The heat loosens up the muscles quickly, and the humidity makes you sweat - elevating your heart rate, boosting metabolism, and promoting detoxification. All you have to bring is 1) a yoga mat, 2) a towel, and 3) a large water. (~95 degrees).
I discovered yoga while a student at UC-Davis. After my first hot yoga class, I knew the practice would be part of my lifelong journey. At the time, I was reliant on three-plus visits a week to the chiropractor to stave off debilitating headaches that were lingering from multiple car accidents. The practice challenged me physically and mentally—some days it took all my will to go to class. After several months of consistent practice, the headaches were nearly gone. My quality of life was significantly improved. In 2006, it was time to start giving back by teaching. I attended a comprehensive 500-hour yoga teacher training program. I taught for four years before I was able to realize my dream of opening a studio in Vacaville. "It is my life purpose to share the practice of yoga with as many people as possible. It may not be for everyone, but based on my personal journey I encourage everyone to try. I see the potential for the benefits to be as profound for you as they have been for me, and I wish to share this message with you
Megan grew up in Colorado where her love of fitness and a healthy lifestyle began. She started teaching yoga in 1999 after the birth of her second son in order to balance her fitness routines, which included teaching cycling, aerobics, and H20 classes. Megan has committed to instructing only yoga with an emphasis on the expression of truth, love and relief. She believes yoga empties you, forcing you to be in the present moment with peace of mind, the ultimate source of happiness. As a mother of three, her daily life constantly challenges the principles of yoga. Megan knows that yoga is a process to balance life open and effectively. While Megan's training began with an AFFA yoga certification, she continues to explore many types of yoga styles and practices to ensure creativity and growth in her teaching. She has studied with and has been greatly inspired by Sean Corne, Shiva Rea and Baron Baptiste
I began my yoga journey in 2009 when I attended Iyengar yoga classes during an extended stay in Hawaii. I was having back pain, and I hoped that yoga might help. When I returned to the mainland, a friend of mine told me about hot yoga. I was curious, so I attended my first class and have been a devoted yoga practitioner ever since. My back pain is greatly relieved by a regular yoga practice, and it has given me a sense of peace. I've gained so many benefits from yoga, and I wanted to give back to others by teaching. To me, this was a natural extension since I've been a school teacher most of my adult life. In 2012, I completed Akasha Yoga's first-ever 200-hour teacher training. In 2014, my husband Bob and I purchased Akasha Vacaville from Jamie Testa. I hope to share yoga with the Akasha community for many years to come
