What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a procedure by which hair is removed from the body by utilizing a long pulse laser. The laser parameters are carefully defined by studying the anatomy the hair follicle and precisely matching the laser light and pulse duration to the follicle size, depth and location to inhibit the re-growth of the hair without damaging the follicles' delicate pores. Laser Hair Removal is safe, fast, effective and proven to be permanent (depending on skin type and hair color)
How does the laser hair removal treatment work?
Laser hair removal is performed by a specially-trained Certified Laser Specialist who distributes the light of a long pulse laser onto the skin. The laser works by disabling hairs that are in their active growth cycle at the time of treatment. Lasers designed for Laser Hair Removal emit wavelengths of light designed to be absorbed by the pigment in the hair. If the surrounding skin is relatively light compared to the color of the hair then the entire energy of the laser will be concentrated in the hair shaft, effectively destroying it without affecting the skin or follicle. While the laser emits a beam that only heats the hair shaft, heat is transmitted from the hair shaft to the surrounding tissue for several milliseconds after the laser pulse. Several lasers possess cooling attachments which cool the surrounding skin to fully absorb any heat transmitted from the destroyed hair shafts

Which body areas can be treated by laser hair removal?
Legs, arms, back, and chest. Sensitive areas such as the eyebrow, upper lip, ears, and even bikini lines can be easily and effectively treated by laser
How many treatments will I need?
We see our clients for about (4) to six (6) treatments. This is because the first few treatments only eliminate the active hair follicles. Everyone has hair that is in an inactive or "resting" state. These hairs will generally start growing after the initial active hair is eliminated. Approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the initial treatment, additional treatments are required to eliminate the remaining hair shafts that are in the growth state. Since other hairs will enter their growth cycle at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the follicles in a given area. Factors that will determine the length of treatment include the particular area to be treated, the texture of hair, frequency of treatments, history of temporary measures to remove hair (waxing, tweezing, shaving, and depilatories, etc.). Depending upon hair type and genetic factors, some clients may require additional treatments beyond these initial treatments. Your CLS will work with you to develop a treatment program which is appropriate for your own individual hair removal needs. Faithful adherence to your treatment schedule will assist your CLS in treating your condition
What does it feel like?
With each pulse, which lasts less than a second, you feel a slight tingling feeling. In sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, chin or bikini line, you may feel a quick, light pinch. It is less painful than tweezing and our laser pulse removes hair each time in spots the size of a nickel. As an additional design benefit, the GentleLASE™, system combines cooling mechanisms that dissipates the irritation
What results can I expect?
At the end of treatment you can expect your skin to feel smooth yet slightly sensitive. Your results become progressively obvious as we perform more procedures on you
What about side effects?
Most clients don't experience any side effects at all. You can return to your regular activities immediately after treatment, although we do advise you to keep out of direct sunlight, tanning beds, hot tubs, and hot showers. Excessive heat to an already exposed area can lead to skin damage

About Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a faster, gentler way to remove unwanted hair that produces great results. It applies precisely controlled pulses of energy (electrical and light, with cooling), reaching into the hair follicles that lie beneath the skin. The energy heats the hair, right down to the bottom of the root, destroying it without damaging surrounding tissue or skin. There are three principal advantages to laser hair removal technology, comfort, speed, and accuracy. Laser Hair removal can be performed on all body areas: eyebrows, face, nose, ears, neck, chest, breasts, pubic areas, buttocks, legs, and feet. Electrolysis can be utilized in the removal of white, red and very blonde unwanted hair
Laser Hair Removal Science
Each of your hair follicles is in one of 3 stages of growth at any given time. The "active growth" (anagen) phase, "regressive" (categen) phase, and "resting" (telogen) phase. The laser is most effective at disabling "actively growing" hairs during treatment. It is during anagen that the hair shaft contains the greatest abundance of melanin, the target of the laser light. Many hair follicles are in their resting or regressive stages at any given time. The length of growth cycle also vary slightly by body area. Your treatment plan will be customized to obtain optimal results

During your consultation we will gather brief medical information, determine your skin type, explain the procedure and what to expect, and perform a skin patch test to see how your skin will react to the laser. There is no single technique that is perfect for all clinical applications. The skin type, hair type and what has caused the hair to grow will depend on the amount of treatments that a client requires. AGAPE LASER uses Candela GentleLASE Plus, Alexandrite 744. The GentleLASE™ by Candela is precise and can be computer-adjusted to the exact parameters that will disable the hair germ cells in the follicle, minimally affecting the surrounding skin, and considerably increasing the efficiency of the hair removal process. By delivering an effective energy beam deep into the tissue, the Alexandrite laser ensures predictable results, patient comfort, and a high degree of safety. Not all lasers are created equal. There is a great deal of misleading information and claims about laser hair removal, leading to unrealistic expectations by patients and, in some cases, severe skin damage

Lasers are optical devices which produce intense coherent, collimated and mono-chromatic beams of light.
A laser consists of an active medium such as a crystal, gas or liquid that amplifies light when excited by an external energy source (a flash amp or electric discharge, for example)
When the appropriate medium is employed, the laser can be finely tuned to generate a very narrow band of light wavelengths (such as the individual colors of the visible spectrum).
Alexandrite long pulse lasers are very effective when the skin type is light and the hair is dark enough to attract the laser within the follicle.
Again, just because it is an alexandrite does not make it the best on the market. Precision cooling of the skin prior to laser application, exact delivery of an effective energy beam deep into the tissue and proper training can make all the difference between maintenance and permanence
Nd:YAG long pulse lasers work on all skin types and are the superior laser when it comes to treating darker skin types (3-6) or patients of color such as
Afro-American, Asian, Hispanic, Mediterranean, European and Middle Eastern. If a traditional laser hair removal device is used on darker skin types, the result is usually serious burning or loss of skin pigment (hypo-pigmentation). However, by utilizing a long pulse Nd:YAG, dark skinned patients will have no problem because the laser pierces through the melanin in the skin and just reaches for the dark hair follicle

Cancellations
All will agree, time is our most valuable asset. When we reserve space on our appointment schedule, our time and services are for you. If that time becomes non productive, there is a loss to the operation of our team. The spa needs to pay our therapists even if a client is a "no-show". This policy allows us to retain great employees. We do our best to fill these openings-just like you, we'd much prefer to have another guest take your place than charge for a cancellation. Please provide at least 24 hour notice if you need to reschedule a treatment. Any "No-shows" will be charged 100% of treatments scheduled for all massage & facials, and anywhere from $15-$50 on laser depending on area. As a courtesy, we provide reminder calls & texts 24-48 hours in advance of your scheduled time to remind you of your appointment. These calls are a courtesy and failure to receive your call is not a valid reason for a 'no show'. Please confirm we have your correct information on file to insure a successful confirmation/reminder process

Children, Cell Phones, Personal Belongings
In order to provide a tranquil atmosphere for our clients, please do not bring small children to the spa during your scheduled appointment as we are not able to care for them during your stay.
