Obstetrics
At Advanced Care for Women our physicians and staff give well rounded care starting with infertility evaluations and family planning, if needed, and continue the care through delivery and post partum. Advanced Care for Women also partners with Healthy Families of the Rappahannock Area, www.healthyfamiliesrappahannock.org. We are in support of strengthening the family unit. Our staff is able to assist with the free voluntary program for first time and established parents

The care offered at our ob/gyn office is comprehensive, and ranges from minimally invasive procedures, outpatient procedures that can help control heavy menstrual bleeding and/or fibroid problems, and a range of minimally invasive procedures for problems that arise in women's health. Most services are performed in office and eliminate the costly operation room, anesthesia and hospital stays. All gynecological procedures performed, including and not limited to be:

We welcome new patients to Advanced Care for Women. Did you know you can complete your new patient registration online by visiting our patient portal? Visit us online at www.ACWVA.com and click patient portal to complete your health history questionnaire. It can be found under your upcoming appointment.There's no need to print any paperwork either! It's that simple and you're ready for the provider when you arrive in the office. Don't forget to bring your current insurance card and a form of photo identification. If you are transferring into our practice, a medical records release form can be found on our website under the patient information tab. This is needed to have your records transferred by fax (540) 710-1800 to our office. Your transfer records will fax right into your chart w/ our office. Taking these important steps on the front end of your visit will minimize your wait time and allow us to focus on your care. We are equally as excited to announce the addition of Dr. Lia Shorter to Advanced Care for Women. Dr. Lia Shorter earned her medical degree from East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine and graduated in 2001. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Residency Hospital Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Shorter is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and has a keen interest in female sexual dysfunction. She comes with over 16 years of experience in her craft. Dr. Shorter's passion is driven by the bonds she builds with her patients over the course of their lives and the enjoyment she holds in keeping them healthy and well. In her spare time, Dr. Shorter loves spending time with her family, spending time outdoors, and traveling. She is passionately known by her patients as "The Diva Doctor". Please join us in welcoming this great physician to our family.
