Medical massage is an outcome-based massage. Primarily, each session involves the application of an individualized treatment targeting the specific problem(s) the patient presents with their diagnosis, and are administered after a thorough assessment/evaluation by the medical massage therapist. Each focused session works towards achieving a specific outcome, taking steps to achieve greater healing and relief of chronic conditions brought upon by overuse and injury.
The time following the birth of your baby is an important time for massage too. A postnatal massage provides emotional and physical relief from the stress of labor and caring for a newborn, increases circulation, helps eliminate toxins and assists in the body's natural recovery process. For cesarean births please allow 6 weeks before massage or provide a doctor's note. You may also consider manual lymphatic drainage massage to help reduce swelling.
