Vinyasa
A heart-centered, grounded, and fluid yoga class with attunement to awakening new levels of awareness through the asanas, allowing for spacious transformation. With an interest in the energetic principles of the asanas, subtle anatomy, and intimate work with the breath, This class is carefully and creatively structured. It invites students to enter their practices with devotion, courage, and ease, staying present in the here-and-now
Basic Hour
This 1hr class is appropriate for any level of student and focuses on foundational skills and principles of yoga asana. Come slow down and refine your practice
Advanced Practice
Geared toward the Advanced student or teacher, this class is an intensive practice spaced over two hours to adequately reach more of the level 2 and 3 poses. The class is set- up in a community style, facing one another with the teacher practicing along with the class while offering instruction and guidance. It is recommended that students have a strong practice and are relatively fluent in bio-mechanic principles to maintain safety within challenging postures. Come with an open heart and a bright spirit and take your practice to the next level
Basic/Open Level
Geared toward more beginner students who would like to move at a slow - moderate pace. Classes will focus on foundation and basic form of the poses while offering a heart theme that keeps things light and not too serious
Chandra Yoga
This moon energy (Chandra) oriented practice will invoke your more receptive self. This class will include less down dog and rigorous vinyasa flow, and more centered, gentle, held postures cultivating a greater awareness of your entire being. Slow down, nourish your body and journey more deeply within yourself
Bhava Friday
Bhva is the sanskrit word for feeling, emotion, mood or a devotional state of mind. Every Friday night at Abhaya offers a full, flowing, asana practice with live music that will be sure to set a sweet mood and vibe for the weekend. We have DJ's, drummers, sitar players, kirtan singers, string instrumentalists, and more coming to extend their special talents while students cultivate self surrender and bliss
Sunday Sunrise
Experience the bright early morning sunshine combined with the sweet sounds of live music from James Fideler as you move your bodies through a vibrant sequence. The class also concludes with devotional chanting
Sacred Sunday
Sacred Sunday is an all-levels class that incorporates delicious asana, transformative breath work, ritual, myth, imaginative meditation experiences and restorative rest. Abhay Meditation and Satsang
Join us for this 75 minute weekly meditation and satsang in which we will practice together as a way to awaken the heart and move into truth. Each session will consist of a dharma talk based on a monthly theme as culled from a plethora of ancient and modern traditions. Students will have the opportunity to experience both guided and non-guided approaches to the art of meditation. With an intention of creating a group process, Joy and Tara skillfully and gracefully point the practitioners toward their own freedom, attending to what arises. Mommy & Me
Safely guide your body back from its life giving journey while bonding and having fun with your baby! Specialized asana with emphasis on toning the abdominal wall and pelvic muscles to restore alignment and strength for overall health. Breathing and restorative techniques address the emotional well being of the new mom. Options will be given to incorporate baby into poses. Have fun with movement and dance for an energy boost and lots of baby giggles. Feel support within a community of mothers, reclaim strength and tone. Open to all mothers 6 weeks postpartum and beyond, who have been given the okay by their health care provider to practice yoga. Bring baby, 6 weeks to 12 months. - Please bring a baby blanket or muslin for baby to lie on. - dress baby lightly or in layers that can be removed. - bring filled water bottle for mom. No previous yoga experience is needed
Parental Yoga
Focus on you, your baby and the changes pregnancy brings within a supportive community. Safe, specialized asanas and deep relaxation techniques alleviate the common physical discomforts of pregnancy while creating tone and physical strength. This holistic class focuses on emotional well being to restore a feeling of calm and harmony. Embrace and address the changes occurring within our body and free ourselves from any inhibitions, anxiety or doubt, enjoy the sacred experience of pregnancy, birth and the journey into motherhood. No previous yoga experience is necessary, mothers-to-be at all stages of pregnancy are welcomed
