There's no denying the power of touch through massage therapy and bodywork.
Regardless of the way we describe it (pampering, rejuvenating, therapeutic) or the reasons we seek it out (stress relief, pain management or a pampering gift for ourselves), massage therapy can be a powerful ally in your healthcare regimen
A typical massage appointment at A to Zen starts with a thorough consultation about the client's specific needs and goals for the massage session.
Current conditions, injuries and areas of pain or tension are discussed along with an agreed upon plan for the appointment
We offer a variety of massage styles and treatments, with our Custom Massages being the most popular.
While most clients opt for a combination of relaxation and pain relief in a full body session, some people prefer concentrated work in the areas of their body where they feel the most discomfort or pain, stress and tension. Typical concerns include shoulder pain, neck pain or back pain, sore muscles from working out, sciatica, and general stress
Regardless of the type of massage you receive
after each session, your Massage Therapist will provide recommendations for future massage treatments, home care, stretching and other possible referrals that can best help you reach your wellness and health care goals

Foot Reflexology
30 Minutes $40; 60 Minutes $80, New Client $65
Foot Reflexology is specific massage to various points on the feet that relate to the organs and systems in the body.
It feels great, helps restore balance in your body and relieves tension. During a treatment, you can experience deep relaxation and calm emotions
Studies show that Foot Reflexology can reduce pain and anxiety and can reduce fatigue.
This targeted service can also address specific issues in your body like migraines. Although it can't specifically treat individual diseases or replace standard medical care, it does help your body release stress. This release helps your body to heal when it is dealing with an illness
Your massage therapist will start by doing a consultation with you to discuss your areas of concern and medical issues.
This is to ensure that we don't exacerbate a condition. Foot Reflexology has limitations, like if you have an open wound on your feet. Pregnancy is also a time when you should be cautious, as it has been reported that stimulating certain reflexology points can lead to contractions
During your appointment, you'll lie on a massage table just as you would during a massage.
Some people relax and fall asleep which is fine as you will still receive the benefits of Foot Reflexology even in a deep sleep. After a session, you may have increased energy, or you may be tired. Both reactions are quite normal. Your body may need additional sleep for healing purposes. Ultimately, the goal is increased mobility and relief from pain. It may take a few sessions to achieve the full benefits
A To Zen Massage in Greensboro, NC offers Foot Reflexology alone or in combination with massage therapy.
If you want to schedule a Foot Reflexology session or include as part of your massage, please mention it when scheduling your appointment
Thai Massage Service
Thai Massage Service
Thai Massage uses rhythmic movement to massage muscles, gradually allowing them to open and stretch for better health. This allows the body to relax and have greater movement. Thai Massage is done with the client fully clothed on the table
60 Minutes$100.00

Cupping Massage
Cupping Massage
Massage cupping is a bodywork approach based on an ancient healthcare practice of using cup shaped objects to create suction on the skin for various health and wellness benefits. The cups are moved over the skin, softening superficial fascia, which can bring blood flow to stagnant muscles and loosen adhesions and scar tissue. Massage cupping is also an excellent means of assisting with the flow of lymph, which aids in the body's natural process of detoxification

Pregnancy massage aids the circulatory and lymphatic systems, which keeps blood flowing to both the mother and the baby.
It stimulates different glands in the body, which help to stabilize hormone levels, and relieves nervous tension throughout the body. Salt Therapy
Why Salt Therapy?
Salt Therapy, also known as Halotherapy, is a natural, drug-free and holistic therapy for respiratory diseases and skin conditions. It provides effective relief, and can be used as a complementary therapy with your prescribed medication or on its own. Salt Therapy is beneficial for all ages especially those with respiratory and skin ailments without side effects, and helps to build your immune system. It can dramatically enhance sports and singing performances and improves lung function by increasing lung capacity and stamina. While medications are useful for chronic diseases, there are some side effects associated with repeated or long term use. Continuous drug therapy is associated with the possible development of allergic or toxic reactions, development of antibiotic resistance, imbalance of intestinal bacteria, and overgrowth of yeast. Steroids used for breathing and skin problems can also affect growth in children, lower bone density, contribute to cataracts, glaucoma and bruising. Salt Therapy may also play an important role in the prevention and treatment of common colds. The best time to treat a cold is at its onset. Having a treatment at the first sign of cold symptoms helps eliminate or reduce mucus and inflammation of the respiratory system. This helps stop the cold without medications and reduces prescription drug use. This is especially important for children and adults with asthma since the common cold is a trigger for asthma
What Is Salt Therapy?
Salt Therapy evolved from Speleotherapy, which originated in Europe. It involves spending 2-3 hours underground in a salt cave daily for 2-3 weeks. Countries including Austria, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Poland, and Ukraine have been using Speleotherapy clinics for over 100 years. The Salt Therapy room at A to Zen mimics the salt cave environment but only requires 30 minutes to achieve therapeutic results due to the concentration of salt particles in the air
The Salt Room
You'll lie back on a comfortable, heated massage table, surrounded by gorgeous Himalayan salt tiles, and breathe in the salt-infused air. You may choose to read, meditate or nap while listening to soft, soothing music in your own private salt chamber
Service Description
In today's world, many people are experiencing respiratory issues as well as other conditions caused by pollution
Smog, airborne diseases, pollens and other toxins in the air. Come take a break from all of that and relax in the Private Salt Room at A to Zen
You'll lie back on a comfortable, heated massage table
Surrounded by gorgeous Himalayan salt tiles, and breathe in the salt-infused air. You may choose to read, meditate or nap while listening to soft, soothing music in your own private salt chamber. You can also choose to enhance the experience by adding the use of our Infrared Jade Mat or Body Wrap during your session – or even getting a massage – for an additional fee
Who Benefits From Salt Therapy?
Halotherapy benefits adults and children. It is natural and safe and there are no side effects.
Salt Therapy does not claim to be a medical treatment, nor a substitution for medicine – and does not offer a cure to any specific ailments. However, a majority of people who visit salt rooms on a regular basis find relief from a variety of respiratory conditions such as asthma, allergies, the common cold, bronchitis, sinusitis, COPD, cystic fibrosis, ear infections, smoker's cough and more. Dry salt therapy is also great for people who suffer from skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne and more
For general respiratory health, visiting the Salt Room at A to Zen will improve your lung capacity
Boost your body's own healing abilities and immune system while helping you relax and improve your sleep at night
Since salt therapy is beneficial for overall general wellness by removing the toxicity from the respiratory system
You do not need to have any specific conditions to enjoy it. This type of treatment is an excellent way to cleanse and detox the lungs and invigorate the whole body with increased lung capacity and oxygen intake
Is There Anyone Who Shouldn't Use Salt Therapy?
Salt Therapy is not recommended for people who are intoxicated
Use an oxygen tank or those who suffer from contagious diseases, fever, open wounds, Stage 3 COPD, cancer, severe or uncontrolled hypertension, acute kidney disease, cardiac insufficiency, severe heart conditions, mental disorders and active tuberculosis. Pregnant women should consult their doctor before using Salt Therapy
To keep the Salt Room environment enjoyable for all patrons
We do not allow smokers to utilize this service at this time. Unfortunately, the habit of smoking will quickly negate the positive effects of using the salt room. We don't want to charge anyone for a service that will not be of any true benefit!
However
Once you have chosen to quit smoking for good, and have not smoked for at least 2-3 weeks, we'd love for you to get started with Salt Room Sessions. (Note: If you need help quitting smoking, ask us about Acupuncture!)
Is Salt Therapy Okay for Children?
We are happy to offer Salt Therapy Services to pre-teens starting at age 12
With parental consent. Children, in fact, respond to Salt Therapy even more quickly than do adults. If your child has been on medications for awhile, but the treatment outcome is not satisfactory, it is worth trying Salt Therapy. Note: At this time, Salt Therapy Services are not available at A to Zen for younger children as it would be disruptive to our spa environment

Frequently Asked Questions
How Long Is The Session?
Each session last 30 minutes. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Late arrivals are not guaranteed a full session
What Should I Wear?
Salt room therapy requires no special clothing; the salt will not damage your clothes or leave any noticeable residue. If you are using Salt Therapy to help with a skin condition, try to wear clothing that will expose the most skin
What Do I Do During The Session?
Sit back and breathe! In the private room, you will rest comfortably on a massage table, while listening to soothing music. You may bring your own music on an IPod or your phone but must use earphones. A to Zen will not held liable for any damage to your electronics from the salt
Can I Bring Something To Drink?
Yes. Bottled water is allowed in the salt room and is available if you do not have your own
Is Salt Therapy Safe?
Salt is antibacterial and antimicrobial. Salt Therapy is 100% natural, safe, and drug-free, providing effective long-term relief. It can be used as a complementary treatment to prescribed medications or as a sole treatment. When Salt Therapy is used as a complementary treatment, it can increase the effectiveness and decrease the amount of prescribed medications
Are There Side Effects?
A dry or itchy throat and increased coughing are quite common after your first session. This is a natural part of the clearing process of the respiratory system. You may also notice slight skin irritation, throat tickle (gargling with water resolves this) and minor eye irritation (use eye drops.)
How Is Dry Salt Better Than Saline Treatments (Neti Pots, Saline Sprays, Etc.)?
Dry salt is more effective then moist salt (saline). Dry salt is very high in negative ions. The inner surfaces of your airways are positively charged and therefore draw the dry salt into the airways where it is most beneficial. Also, saline is known to cause some bronchial hyperactivity. You also ingest less salt during a 30 minute Salt Therapy session while inhaling moist sodium chloride aerosol (saline). Lastly, people have been known to contract serious infections from non sterile water used in moist saline therapies. This cannot occur with dry salt aerosol

The Salt Sauna at A to Zen also utilizes infrared heat. It's unlike a typical wet or dry sauna in that rather than feeling extraordinarily hot to your skin, it heats the body at an internal level, causing the body to sweat

He is a loving mentor, teacher, and bio-energy healer, experienced in the yogic sciences of Karma, Kundalini, and Kriya Yoga with the mission of supporting the awakening and expansion of the human consciousness by treating the body, mind and soul as one. He has lived in America for nearly 20 years graduated with a Business degree from a prestigious university and has worked for more than 15 years in large international corporations, where he held various corporate positions and developed a passion for self-help and personal development, his life experiences have helped him gain greater insight into the struggles of the modern American life leading him to follow his passion for healing and empowering individuals. His approach has empowered and assisted many people to access and "re-wire" the subconscious mind to change self-limiting believes, and tap into their true potential to achieve their goals using ancient and modern meditation disciplines for mindset training to increase an individual's resilience, abilities, empowerment, and sense of personal well-being
Dawn Leonard
Dawn is passionate about birth! Her goal is help enliven the conversations around birth, and to remind all people of how freedom in birth can bring about peace, security and love on Planet Earth. Dawn currently offers a Pre-Natal Yoga class at A to Zen on Thursdays at 1 PM From Dawn: "I'm turning off the mute button when it comes to the importance of this relatively short experience. Perhaps you feel the same way about birth. Or maybe you can feel it in your bones even if you can't quite put it into words. My role as your doula or yoga instructor is create a safe, sacred space for you to do the internal work of preparation, healing and growth to create the birth experience you desire."
Chi Kung
Chi Kung are exercises for your mind, body, and spirit. A literal translation of Chi Kung is "breath work". A deeper meaning of Chi can be "internal energy". Kung simply means "work" or "skill achieved through practice". To draw it out and elaborate further Chi Kung is "skill achieved through practicing with our internal energy." Chi Kung can be soft, focusing on relaxing into alignment, or hard, learning how to tense the body while keeping proper alignment and timing. Through hard and soft practices we focus our mind to achieve better control of our bodies. When the two become connected seamlessly, this allows our spirit to shine through. The goal of Chi Kung is to achieve this seamless connection. Along the way you will achieve benefits of fitness, health, relaxation, discipline, honor and finally an energized spirit
Tai Chi Chuan
Tai Chi Chuan is a slow moving and low impact exercise you can do no matter what your age. Practicing helps to rebuild your joints, strengthen your immunity, and help you maintain balance. Tai Chi Chuan is a great tool to learn how to relax and realign your body in movement. One of the reasons it is usually called "meditation in movement"
Daniel Hyde
Daniel Hyde has had a passion for martial arts since early on in life! He began his martial art practice in junior high. One of his friends at the time in gym class had exceptional fitness. When Daniel asked him what he did to get so good at running, push ups and other exercises he said "I practice karate 3 times a week, want to join me?" This began Daniel's journey in the martial arts. He started off with his friend training in Karate and a few years later pursued Kwan Ying Dao Kung Fu, and Yang style Tai Chi Chuan under Dave Cial. Little did he know the profound impact these arts were going to have on his later endeavors. Upon turning seventeen, he joined the Marine Corps Infantry as an Assaultman. The time he spent in Combat and rigorous military training tested his resolve physically and psychologically. To deal with the added stress he firmly established his Kung Fu and Tai Chi practice as a way to heal his body and mind through the struggles of military life. After noticing distinct benefits to his overall health, he decided to study at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. While there, he met a great friend and mentor, Dr. B. Tony Zayner. Through Dr. Zayner he continued his growth and advancement in massage, healing and Yang Tai Chi Chuan. Mr. Hyde completed his Associates Degree in Applied Sciences of Massage Therapy in August of 2011! With this he continues to spread the healing of the orient with many people. Now residing in North Carolina, Mr. Hyde is teaching in Greensboro. He has always been ready to help all who came in contact with him, inside or outside of class. He is more than ready to share his experiences and healing with you and "y'all" fine people of North Carolina
