Botox, Dysport, Xeomin
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are a naturally occurring proteins that relaxes muscles leading to improvement of wrinkles caused by facial expressions. Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin can be used on many different areas on the face and body. The most common areas for Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin treatment are the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes. Botox treatments take a few minutes. Dr. Alex uses a painless technique using cold air. Effects are seen as early as three days after the treatment and last three to four months.
Painless Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin
What is Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are medicines placed in muscles on the face to improve the look of frown lines between the eyebrows, Crow's feet around the eyes, forehead lines, and other areas. Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are administered by Dr. Alex as a simple, nonsurgical treatment.

Why A E Skin?
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin is a medical procedure done by a certified medical professional. At A E Skin, all treatments are done by Dr. Alex himself, an expert in Botox and cosmetic medicine. At other offices a general medical doctor or some other specialist who does not focus on cosmetic medicine may perform the treatment; and yet at other offices nurses do the treatment. Don't you want your treatment to be done by a doctor like Dr. Alex who has done hundreds of treatments and trained others on the technique? Patients get outstanding results as seen in the before and after gallery.
How do Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin work?
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin block nerve impulses to the muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes wrinkles to form with facial expressions such as frowning, smiling, or raising the eyebrows.
When will I see results from a Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin treatment?
Results are seen in three to seven days after a treatment with Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, with continued improvement for up to 30 days.
How long do Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin last?
Patients can expect visible results to last approximately three months to four months with Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin.
What will happen to the moderate to severe wrinkles if I choose not to continue treatments with Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin?
If you do not continue botox treatments, the moderate to severe wrinkles will gradually return to the way they looked before treatment.
Is treatment with Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin painful?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief with Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. Dr. Alex uses a pain free technique by applying cold air to numb the skin prior to treatment. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Most patients are in and out of the office without downtime following a treatment.
Will I need an anesthetic?
The needle used for botox injections is very small and anesthesia is not used. Ice or cold air placed over the treatment areas after the treatment decreases the possibility of bruising.
Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
Although the results are visible, a treatment with Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you've "had work done." The muscles that cause wrinkles are temporarily relaxed, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles.
What should I do before a treatment with Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin?
Do not drink alcohol on the day of treatment with Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin. Remove all makeup before treatment. It is advisable to avoid blood-thinning medications a few days prior to treatment, as this can increase the risk of bruising. These medications include aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, or products containing Ginko biloba. Patients taking warfarin or coumadin should not be treated.
What should I do after a treatment with Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin?
Do not vigorously rub or massage the treated areas after a treatment with Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin. Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours after treatment. Do not participate in sports or vigorous exercise for 24 hours after treatment. Do not lie down for four hours after treatment. Any of these activities will bring blood to the skin and cause side effects.
Is treatment with Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin safe?
The safety record of Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin is well established. The product has been used for over 20 years for a variety of treatments with minimal side effects. Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are amongst the safest treatments for treating facial wrinkles.

Juvederm Voluma
"I had a syringe of Voluma done on each side of my face. I have had filler and Botox many times so I didn't find this painful. Of course, Dr. Alex makes sure you're nice and numb before the procedure anyway as they have to inject this at a deeper level. I absolutely love the voluma as it just makes you look refreshed and not like you have a face full of filler. I'm 47 and needed a bit of a pick me up as I have some volume loss. What is Forever Young BBL IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacial?
Forever Young BBL IPL Photofacial is an innovative technology that sets new standards for skin conditions associated with aging, active life-styles, and sun damage. Forever Young IPL Photofacial energy allows precise treatment of age and sun spots, small facial veins, and many other skin conditions. Your treatment will be tailored to match your skin type and your desired results.
How does Forever Young BBL IPL Photofacial work?
The light energy delivered by the Forever Young BBL IPL Photofacial will gently heat the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate new collagen. This process will restore your skin to its natural beauty, blending its natural colors and making it smoother, vibrant and younger looking. In addition, the light-based energy will eliminate fine vessels that cause redness and reduce unwanted melanin that produces pigmented lesions.
What conditions can be treated with Forever Young BBL IPL Photofacial?
Dark Discolorations (e.g., freckles, age spots), Broken capillaries and generalized redness, Acne, Skin Firmness, Uneven Skin Texture, Unwanted Hair.
How long will it take to recover?
This is a noninvasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you are able to return to work and resume most of your activities immediately.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient. A series of three to six treatments at four to eight week intervals is recommended, but more procedures may be done based on the level of improvement you desire. You may also combine your treatment with other popular aesthetic procedures to further personalize your treatment.
What will happen during the procedure?
Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may briefly feel a warm or "rubber band snap" sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. The procedure takes a few minutes.
Will it be uncomfortable?
The procedure is gentle, noninvasive, and safe. Generally, there is no need for a topical anesthetic. However at A E Skin we use a topical numbing cream for about 15 minutes prior to the procedure because patient comfort is a priority. Unlike other offices, at A E Skin there is no extra charge for numbing cream and you do not need to arrive early to have the numbing cream applied.
What areas can be treated with Forever Young BBL IPL Photofacial?
Any area of your body can be treated with the Forever Young BBL IPL Photofacial. The most common areas are those most exposed to the damaging effects of sunlight. The most popular treatments are on the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.
What should I expect after a Forever Young BBL IPL Photofacial treatment?
After a Forever Young BBL IPL Photofacial treatment, you may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours, but may last up to 48 hours. For some dark spots, you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Your treated skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores will be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated.
What aftercare do I need?
It is important to carefully follow the aftercare instructions. You will be sensitive to ultraviolet light and you must avoid direct sun exposure until completely healed. Fully cover your skin or use a sunscreen with SPF at least 30 with broad spectrum coverage every day. Avoid heat, alcohol, and exercise for at least 24 hours after the procedure, because this can draw blood to the skin and lead to unwanted side effects such as blisters and discoloration.
Laser Skin Tightening
Laser skin tightening is a great procedure for those interested in a non-invasive approach to improving skin laxity. It works by heating the deep layer of the skin called the dermis, serving to denature the collagen and causing it to snap, leading to tightening of the skin. Impressive results can be seen in areas such as the chin, neck, jawline, and cheeks. Multiple treatments are generally required and results improve over time. Combining such treatments with fillers, Botox, topical creams, chemical peels, and other laser treatments can lead to outstanding results.
What is Laser Skin Tightening?
Laser skin tightening utilizes pulsed light technology to deeply heat your skin while cooling and protecting the entire treated surface. The treatment is provided quickly and comfortably with no downtime. The end result is a more youthful appearance.
How does Laser Skin Tightening work?
The procedure utilizes infrared energy to deeply heat dermal collagen. This process promotes partial denaturation and contraction of collagen. The heat also initiates the body's natural healing process, which creates a renewed collagen foundation leading to increased skin firmness. Powerful cooling maintains the outer surface of your skin at a cool temperature before, during, and after each pulse providing the patient a comfortable and safe procedure.
What is the treatment like?
The light energy is delivered in a sequence of rapid, gentle pulses. There is no need for a topical anesthetic. A series of pulses will be repeated over the treatment area to ensure best results. While the face and neck can typically be treated within 30 minutes, the actual time will depend on the area treated.
What should I expect after treatment?
You may experience some mild redness in the treated area immediately after treatment and this should return to normal within minutes. Since the procedure is noninvasive there is no downtime so you can resume regular activities immediately following treatment. You can also apply sunscreen after each session.
What results should I expect?
Laser Skin Tightening results may vary from patient to patient. The procedure is recommended for patients who desire moderate, noticeable skin improvement without having to undergo surgery. Full results often take up to six months as the collagen foundation of your skin is rebuilt and strengthened.
What areas can be treated?
Treatments are safe for all skin colors and can be performed on any area of the body where an improvement in your skin firmness is desired. Popular areas include the face, neck, abdomen and arms. Consult with Dr. Alex regarding the treatment options that are best for you.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient and Dr. Alex can personalize a treatment plan based on the level of improvement you desire. Most people undergo an initial series of three treatments at three to six week intervals. Dr. Alex may also combine laser skin tightening with other popular aesthetic procedures to further personalize your treatment.
What aftercare do I need?
It is important to carefully follow the aftercare instructions. No special skin care regimen is required following treatment. However, you should always protect your skin from direct sun exposure and use a sunscreen with SPF at least 30 with broad spectrum coverage every day. Dr. Alex can also recommend an at home skin care regimen if desired.
Ultimate Rejuvenation
The A E Skin Ultimate Rejuvenation is a new and exciting combination laser therapy designed by Dr. Alex to provide improvement for many different aspects of aging all performed in one session. The treatment is customized for each person.
Step 1: Forever Young IPL Photofacial Treatment
It starts with a Forever Young IPL Photofacial using Broad Band Light which primarily targets dark discolorations as well as rosacea and generalized redness, but is also useful for closing enlarged pores, improving the radiance of the skin, and stimulating collagen production.
Step 2: Skin Tightening Treatment
The second step, which is done only with lighter skin types, is the Laser Skin Tightening. A different laser is used at low settings but with a rapid repetition rate to heat up the skin. This stimulates collagen production to improve fine lines, wrinkles, and laxity.
Step 3: Micro Laser Peel Treatment
The next step is a Micro Laser Peel. Using a third laser, this step removes a thin layer of dead skin cells from the surface of the skin to provide a smooth texture and replaces dull skin with glowing skin.
Step 4: Pro Fractional Treatment
The fourth step is the Pro Fractional Therapy, which uses the same laser as the Micro Laser Peel but with significantly greater depth and without treating the entire surface. Only a small fraction of the skin surface is treated and the surrounding untreated areas allow for rapid healing with minimal down time. The depth of this step is customized for each person and it is outstanding for deeper wrinkles and acne scars.
Step 5: Hydroquinone Treatment
The final step, the hydroquinone treatment, is optional and useful for deep pigmentation. This liquid brightening agent is applied to the skin just like a chemical peel but is more potent than a topical Brightening Cream because it penetrates to a greater depth after the Pro Fractional Treatment. Women who are pregnant or breast feeding should not be treated. The Ultimate Rejuvenation treatment is now available at A E Skin. Contact us to schedule a free consultation to determine what is best for you.
Soft and Smooth Rejuvenation
The A E Skin Soft and Smooth Rejuvenation is a two step laser procedure designed by Dr. Alex to improve redness, discoloration, and textural irregularities in one treatment.
Step 1: Forever Young IPL Photofacial Treatment
After the face is numbed with a topical cream, the first step is a Forever Young BBL IPL Photofacial treatment. Dr. Alex uses the Sciton Forever Young Broad Band Light for its outstanding results and ability to adjust multiple settings to treat all types of skin. This step produces a smooth color, improving dark discolorations (usually from sun damage) and well as redness, both generalized redness and broken capillaries. It will also help improve fine lines and wrinkles and close enlarged pores.
Step 2: Micro Laser Peel Treatment
The second step is a Micro Laser Peel, which removes a thin layer of dead skin cells from the surface, giving a soft texture and a bright, glowing complexion. The depth is adjusted for each person and the amount of skin removed is usually less than the thickness of a sheet of paper. The face is red for anywhere from six hours to five days depending on the settings. The procedure takes less than 15 minutes and patients are getting beautiful results. The procedure is not appropriate for women who are pregnant or breast feeding.
Tight and Bright Rejuvenation
"I am THRILLED with the results I've seen since my Tight and Bright Rejuvenation treatment! The laser targeted the broken capillaries and worked nothing short of a miracle." Tina B. Pasadena, CA. The A E Skin Tight and Bright Rejuvenation is a two step laser procedure designed by Dr. Alex to improve redness, discoloration, fine lines, wrinkles, and enlarged pores in one treatment.
Step 2: Photorejuvenation Skin Tightening
The second step is the Photorejuvenation Skin Tightening treatment, which uses gentle micropulses of energy to slowly heat up the skin and stimulate collagen formation. This will address generalized redness, broken capillaries, enlarged pores, fine lines, and wrinkles, thereby enhancing the results of other treatments such as Botox, Juvederm, Voluma, and Ultherapy. Unlike the Micro Laser Peel, the Photorejuvenation Skin Tightening treatment has no down time. It can also treat all skin types. The face is red for anywhere from 24 to 48 hours after the treatment. The procedure takes less than 15 minutes and patients are getting beautiful results. Most patients start with a series of four to six treatments every four to eight weeks and then have maintenance treatments once every three to six months. The procedure is not appropriate for women who are pregnant or breast feeding.
Fountain of Youth Rejuvenation
The A E Skin Fountain of Youth is a new and exciting two-step combination laser therapy designed by Dr. Alex to provide improvement for many different aspects of aging all performed in one session. It is perfect to help with fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, discolorations, redness, and broken capillaries. The Fountain of Youth Rejuvenation is designed for people who want to rejuvenate their skin without prolonged recovery times. Instead of one deep treatment, multiple gentle treatments are performed. Light settings are used so that the recovery time is no more than a few days. Dr. Alex recommends a series of four to six treatments done every four to eight weeks for best results. After that, maintenance treatments are done every three to six months. The Fountain of Youth Rejuvenation treatment is appropriate for those with lighter skin types only. It is not recommended for patients with darker skin types because there is a risk of darkening of the skin after the treatment.
Step 1: Skin Tightening Treatment
The first step is the Laser Skin Tightening. Gentle micropulses of laser energy are used to slowly heat up the surface layer of the skin. This stimulates collagen production to improve fine lines, wrinkles, and laxity. It will also help with generalized redness and broken capillaries.
Step 2: Pro Fractional Treatment
The second step is the Pro Fractional Therapy, which uses a different laser to create tiny holes in the skin. This stimulates collagen formation in the deeper layers of the skin, providing a perfect complement to the first step. Less than two percent of the skin surface is treated and the surrounding untreated areas allow for rapid healing with minimal down time. Women who are pregnant or breast feeding should not be treated. The Fountain of Youth Rejuvenation treatment is now available at A E Skin. Micro Laser Peel
Laser skin resurfacing often has the most dramatic results. This is used for improving surface texture, fine to deep wrinkles, pores, and scars. Ablative resurfacing with the Micro Laser Peel is an outstanding treatment suitable for all skin types.
What is the Micro Laser Peel?
The Micro Laser Peel removes a thin layer of damaged skin to improve texture and provide a more youthful appearance. It provides superior results because it can be administered with great precision of depth. The procedure is performed in the office and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.
How does the Micro Laser Peel work?
The Micro Laser Peel's beam is scanned over a treatment area to remove a very thin layer of the skin. Removing the top layer eliminates some of the damaged cells that can give skin a tired, aged look. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, often with reduced wrinkles and improved color evenness. Patients often say that it looks like their skin went from looking tired to vibrant.
What conditions can be treated with a Micro Laser Peel?
Mild wrinkles, Scars, Keratosis, Sun damage (e.g., freckles), Pigment irregularities.
What areas can be treated with a Micro Laser Peel?
Most skin areas can be treated with a Micro Laser Peel. Popular treatment areas are the face and neck, though some people also treat the chest and hands. Discuss your needs with Dr. Alex.
How many Micro Laser Peel treatments will I need?
Excellent results can be obtained in just one Micro Laser Peel treatment, however the number of treatments needed may vary from patient to patient. Dr. Alex will personalize a plan based on your specific needs and may chose to combine Micro Laser Peel with other aesthetic procedures to further personalize your treatment.
What will happen during the Micro Laser Peel treatment?
During the Micro Laser Peel treatment your skin will be cleaned in the treatment area and your eyes will be protected with safety shields. Dr. Alex will position the laser handpiece above the skin and will hold it in place as the computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam around the treatment area. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure usually lasts 15 to 30 minutes.
Will the Micro Laser Peel treatment be uncomfortable?
One of the primary advantages of the Micro Laser Peel is that it causes little pain because it does not penetrate very deep into the skin. At its most shallow settings, most people can tolerate treatment with no anesthetic at all. At deeper settings, a topical numbing cream is typically used.
What should I expect immediately after the Micro Laser Peel treatment?
Immediately after the Micro Laser Peel treatment you will notice that the skin has a "frosty" appearance. This is the dehydrated skin that will peel away within next few days following the treatment. You may experience some skin redness and a sensation resembling sunburn, as well as mild swelling.
How long will it take to recover from a Micro Laser Peel?
Depending on the depth of treatment, most patients feel comfortable enough to return to work within 3 to 4 days after a Micro Laser Peel an attribute that has given rise to the nickname "the weekend peel."
What aftercare do I need?
It is important to carefully follow the aftercare instructions. Your skin will be sensitive to ultra-violet light after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed.
When should I expect results?
Because only the outer layer of skin is treated, most patients notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture and color evenness once the skin heals in approximately 3-4 days.
Pro Fractional Therapy
Acne scars and deep wrinkles are very common concerns for many people. Acne scars are typically depressed into the skin rather than being elevated over the skin in the case of a surgical scar for example. They are due to abnormal healing of the skin and abnormal collagen formation after deep acne cysts. Fractional resurfacing with Pro Fractional Therapy is an outstanding laser-based treatment for acne scars and deep wrinkles because it can get rid of abnormal collagen and stimulate the production of normal collagen which gives the skin a smooth appearance. The idea behind fractional technology is that instead of treating the entire surface of the skin, only a fraction of it is treated. This is very similar to drilling holes to aerate a lawn. Tiny holes are formed in the skin and the untreated surrounding areas help the skin heal. This makes the healing time significantly less than full resurfacing; typically less than one week. With a series of treatments outstanding results can be achieved.
What is Pro Fractional Therapy?
Pro Fractional Therapy is a quick and comfortable laser procedure with little downtime, used for improving the overall appearance of your skin. The treatment is performed in the office and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.
How does Pro Fractional Therapy work?
Pro Fractional Therapy uses a tiny laser beam to treat thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin. Because only a fraction of your skin is directly treated with the laser, the surrounding untreated tissue promotes rapid healing. This skin's wound healing response creates new collagen which add firmness and resilience to the skin.
What is the primary application of Pro Fractional Therapy?
Based on an assessment of your skin condition and cosmetic goals, Dr. Alex may recommend Pro Fractional Therapy when minimal downtime is desired.
What areas of the body can be treated with Pro Fractional Therapy?
Most skin areas can be treated with Pro Fractional Therapy. Popular treatment areas are the face and neck, though many people also treat the chest and hands. You should discuss your needs with Dr. Alex.
How many Pro Fractional Therapy treatments will I need?
Excellent results can be obtained in just one Pro Fractional Therapy treatment, though the number of treatments may vary from patient to patient. Dr. Alex will personalize a plan based on your specific needs and may recommend combining Pro Fractional Therapy with other aesthetic procedures to further personalize your treatment.
What will happen during the Pro Fractional Therapy treatment?
Your skin will be cleaned in the treatment area and your eyes will be protected with safety shields. A laser handpiece will be positioned gently on the skin. When the laser energy is applied, you will hear a rapid succession of snapping sounds. The handpiece will be moved around to adjacent locations until the entire treatment area has been covered. The procedure normally takes 15 to 30 minutes.
Is Pro Fractional Therapy uncomfortable?
Pro Fractional Therapy is widely regarded as a comfortable procedure, usually tolerated with the use of a topical numbing cream or a local anesthetic, depending on the depth of treatment.
What should I expect immediately after the Pro Fractional Therapy treatment?
Immediately following the Pro Fractional Therapy treatment you may experience mild redness and a sensation resembling sunburn. Dr. Alex will provide specific after-treatment care recommendations, which may include analgesics and application of an ointment to keep the skin moist.
How long will it take to recover?
Complete healing typically occurs within a few days and most patients usually feel comfortable enough to get back to work and apply makeup a day or two after the treatment. There will likely be some swelling that will subside within several days following the treatment.
What aftercare do I need?
It is important to carefully follow the aftercare instructions. Your skin will be sensitive to ultra-violet light after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed.
When should I expect results?
As your skin heals in the days following your treatment, you may notice a general tightening effect. However, the true benefit of Pro Fractional is the collagen remodeling that occurs during the 3 to 6 months following your treatment.
Leg Vein Treatment
Many people are surprised to learn that lasers can be used to treat leg veins, and veins anywhere on the skin for that matter. Amazing results can be achieved on a variety of veins, from the larger deep blue ones to the tiny superficial red ones. The principal is the same as that for hair removal, but the target is the blood instead of the hair. A laser or light based device, sometimes combined with radiofrequency is used to target the blood and destroy the vessel. Treatments are sometimes uncomfortable, but most people see results almost immediately. A series of at least three treatments is usually needed at eight to twelve week intervals. Like laser hair removal, it should not be performed on patients who are pregnant or breast feeding.
What is the Leg Vein Laser Treatment?
Leg Vein Lasers allow precise treatment of visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins, and discoloration of your skin by using laser energy. Your treatment will be tailored to match your skin condition and desired result.
What will the Leg Vein Treatment do?
Dr. Alex will use the laser to restore your skin tone and color. Broken capillaries and other visible vascular structures will be gently eliminated from the upper layers of your skin surface with the Leg Vein Treatment. Unwanted vessels will be preferentially heated by the laser energy and become less noticeable.
What areas can be treated with Leg Vein Treatment?
All skin areas can be treated with Leg Vein Treatment. Popular areas are the broken capillaries on the face and spider veins on the legs. Discuss your needs with Dr. Alex.
How long will it take to recover from a Leg Vein Treatment?
Your healing time after a Leg Vein Treatment will depend upon your actual treatment. In most cases, there is virtually no downtime and you may resume daily activity immediately. You may experience some redness after the procedure. Dr. Alex will answer questions about temporary changes on your skin color and how they may be camouflaged.
What will happen during the Leg Vein Treatment?
Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. Laser energy will be delivered precisely to the area of your skin being treated. You may briefly feel a warm or hot sensation as the laser pulses are absorbed by the unwanted vessels. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated.
Is the Leg Vein Treatment uncomfortable?
There should be little to no discomfort, however it varies from patient to patient and depends on the treatment. There is no need for anesthesia although cold air is used for comfort. There should be no prolonged post treatment discomfort.
What should I expect after a Leg Vein Treatment?
After a Leg Vein Treatment, your skin will be pink temporarily but it will resolve over time. Any vessels denatured by the laser will be reabsorbed by your body over a period of time in a natural cleansing process. Most small capillaries will change color or disappear almost immediately.
What aftercare will I need?
It is important to carefully follow the aftercare instructions. Your skin will be sensitive to ultraviolet light, and you must avoid direct sun exposure. You need to fully cover your skin.
Toenail Fungus Treatment
One of the newest uses for lasers in dermatology is for the treatment of toenail fungus. This condition affects many people and leads to undesirable changes in the color and texture of the nail. The laser is used to gently heat the nail and kill the fungus. As the nail grows out over several months, clearance is seen. The treatment is pain-free and takes about 15 minutes. Anywhere from one to three treatments are performed at intervals ranging from one week to six months. Compared to other treatments, laser toenail fungus therapy is highly effective. It does not have side effects such as liver damage that could occur with oral therapy and it does not lead to disfiguring of the nail that is seen with surgical therapy.
What is Laser Toenail Fungus Treatment?
Laser toenail fungus treatment is a laser delivery technology for cosmetic improvement of conditions including the temporary increase in clear nail for patients with toenail fungus.
What causes fungal infection in the nail?
Toenail fungus, or onychomycosis, is a non-life threatening infection of the nails. The fungus usually begins growing on the skin around the nail and then enters the nail bed and nail plate.
Where does the infection come from?
Fungi are everywherein the air, the dust, and the soil. Shower floors, locker rooms, and swimming pools are suspected of being sources of the fungus, although there are no studies proving this fact.
What are the symptoms of fungal infection?
Infected nails often have one or more of the following undesirable changes in the nail: no luster, nail brittleness, yellow streaks, thick nails that may separate from the skin, or white spots.
How many treatments will I need?
Most infections improve after two to three 15-20 minute treatments, however, the number of treatments will vary depending on the severity of the nail fungus. Immediately following treatment, no visual change in the nail will be detected, as it takes time for the clear nail to grow.
How does the treatment work?
The laser heats the nail and the nail bed resulting in a decrease of nail fungus and an increase in the growth of clear nail. The treatment involves passing the laser beam over the infected nails and surrounding skin. Dr. Alex will repeat this until enough energy has reached the nail bed. Your nail will feel warm during the treatment. The ClearSense treatment may be performed with no down time.
What are the possible side effects?
No significant side effects have been reported. You may feel slight discomfort associated with heat during treatment, but there is no pain involved post treatment. Patients may also see mild redness briefly after the treatment, but this should resolve in 24 hours.
What can I expect with a Treatment?
Clip the toenails and remove any nail polish before the treatment. Dr. Alex will wipe each nail clean with an alcohol wipe to make sure there is no dirt or debris. Baseline photos will be taken to document nail growth. After the treatment you can resume normal activity immediately after treatment, with no downtime. Nail polish can be applied 24 hours after the treatment. Use new shoes and wash socks thoroughly in hot water. Follow up photographs will be taken to document nail growth. Over the next several months, most patients see some degree of continuous growth of clear healthy nails.
What aftercare do I need?
You may resume normal activity immediately following treatment. Wear new shoes and socks that have been washed thoroughly in hot water to prevent reinfection and further spread of fungus.
Can the fungus come back?
There is a chance of re-infection as the fungus lives within the environment. Proper post-care techniques are recommended to help reduce recurrence.
What treatments are available for fungal infection in the nail?
Nail fungus is prevalent worldwide and up until now, has had very limited, ineffective and undesirable treatment options.
Topical (applied to the surface)
cannot penetrate the nail adequately to completely eradicate fungus and has to be applied daily.
Oral (by mouth)
not effective in all patients and side effects include possible liver damage.
Surgical removal or chemical dissolution of the nail plate
this often ineffective and traumatic procedure leaves the patient without a nail for months and at risk for reinfection.
Permanent removal of the nail
this often results in a disfigured appearance.
Laser treatment
short treatment times, minimal pain involved, no down time or side effects have been reported in the literature. The laser energy is delivered to the affected area. Most patients experience some degree of a temporary increase in clear nail.
Ultherapy
Ultherapy is a New Treatment
Ultherapy is a new kind of non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that uses ultrasound and your body's own natural healing processes to tighten, tone, and lift loose skin on the upper face, lower face, jawline, and neck.
Ultherapy is Cleared by the FDA
Ultherapy is the only FDA-cleared procedure to lift skin on these hard-to-treat areas. It uses ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen in the deep layers of the skinincluding those typically addressed in a surgical faceliftwithout affecting the skin surface.
Ultherapy Provides Natural, Noticeable Results
There's a new way to have firm skin in the face of gravityon your own terms. Ultherapy has no downtime, no foreign needles or injections, and no radical change; just a subtle and healthy improvement of the skin from the inside for a natural and noticeable effect on the outside. With Ultherapy, all it takes is one 60-90 minute in-office treatment and you can go about your day right away. You may notice an initial improvement but Ultherapy's natural process of creating fresh, tight, collagen builds over timejust like the effect that exercise has on building muscle (but without all the exercise!).
The Beauty of Ultherapy
Your results from an Ultherapy treatment will get better and better over the course of 8-12 weeks and some people see continued improvement for up to 6 months, including tightening and lifting of the skin on the neck, under the chin, along the jawline, and on the brow. While ultrasound does is not a replacement for surgery, Ultherapy is an exciting new option for people who are not ready for surgery yet.
Ultherapy is the Uplifting Ultrasound
Lasers penetrate the skin from the outside-in. On the other hand, Ultherapy bypasses the skin surface, specifically targeting the structural tissues deep in the skin tissues where collagen lies. Using the technology of ultrasound, Ultherapy really works from the inside-out to tightening and lift the skin without surgery.
Ultherapy is The "See" and "Treat" Ultrasound
In certain ways, Ultherapy is just like the ultrasound expectant mothers receive. The smooth handpiece is placed on the skin and an image of the tissue beneath is shown on the screen. This allows Dr. Alex and his staff to "see" exactly where we treat your skin. But the difference is that with Ultherapy, that same handpiece is also used to deposit tiny amounts of highly focused energy at just the right depth under the skin to affect the same layer typically addressed in a facelift.
Ultherapy is the Lift You're Looking For
Your body's response to the ultrasound energy after an Ultherapy treatment is to replace tired skin with healthy looking skin by stimulating the growth of fresh, new collagen. This results in a gradual lifting and tightening of the skin back into a more youthful appearance and form-fitting shape.
Ultherapy: Natural. Non-Invasive. No Downtime.
The Ultherapy treatment is cleared by the FDA and has been shown to be safe and effective in medical studies and in over 100,000 patient treatments worldwide. In addition, every Ultherapy practitioner is provided with procedural training and tools, so you can schedule your Ultherapy treatment with complete confidence. An Ultherapy procedure typically takes around 60 minutes, but will depend on the area to be treated and the treatment plan determined by your practitioner. There are no special after-care requirements and you can resume your normal activities immediately.
Before Your Ultherapy Treatment
No preparation whatsoever is required before your Ultherapy procedure, although your practitioner may recommend that comfort measures such as over-the-counter or prescribed medication be taken prior to treatment.
During Your Ultherapy Treatment
After cleansing the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated, an ultrasound gel is applied and the smooth handpiece is placed upon your skin. The focused ultrasound energy bypasses the surface of your skin and is delivered to pre-planned depths within the tissue below to stimulate collagen growth. Comfort levels vary from patient to patient and can depend on the area treated as well. Your practitioner will discuss options for making the experience as pleasant as possible. The sensation you experience is associated with the focused ultrasound energy as it is deposited below the surface of the skin. It is noticeable just while the energy is being delivered and patients typically leave comfortable and excited about the benefits to come.
After Your Ultherapy Treatment
You are able to return to your normal activities right away, and there are no special measures you need to take. Your skin may appear flushed immediately after the ultrasound treatment, but any redness should disappear within a few hours. It is not uncommon to experience slight swelling for a few days, or tingling/tenderness to the touch for a few weeks following the procedure, but these are mild and temporary in nature. There is the possibility for other less common post-procedural effects, such as temporary small areas of bruising or numbness, and other rare effects which your physician will review with you.
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a non-surgical face and neck treatment that uses ultrasound to actually lift and tone loose or sagging skin without any downtime.
What is unique about the Ultherapy treatment?
Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment that can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin that is addressed in cosmetic surgery without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. It is also the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most effective.
What kind of technology does Ultherapy use?
Ultherapy uses tried-and-true ultrasound technology, which has received FDA clearance for use in this new type of medical procedure to lift skin on the brow, neck, and under the chin.
What does the Ultherapy ultrasound treatment do?
Ultherapy deposits focused ultrasound energy below the surface of the skin to stimulate the body's creation of new collagen. As a result, skin will actually begin to lift and tone over time.
What does collagen do? How does Ultherapy stimulate the creation of collagen?
Collagen is a natural protein that gives skin its youthfulness by keeping it firmed, toned and elastic. As we age, collagen loses its elasticity and its ability to stand up to the effects of gravity that pull the skin downward. Ultherapy jump starts a natural repair process that produces fresh, new collagen.
Is Ultherapy surgery?
No. Unlike a face lift, Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that addresses the skin and support layers below it, but doesn't entail cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.
Can Ultherapy replace a face lift?
Ultherapy is an "uplift" not a "face lift." While it is not a replacement for surgery, it is a viable option for those not ready for a face lift or those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
How is Ultherapy different from lasers?
Lasers typically address issues in the superficial layers of the skin (e.g. fine lines, wrinkles, pigment changes). Ultherapy addresses the deep skin layer and the foundational layer addressed in cosmetic surgery that lift and lend support to the skin. Therefore, the two technologies are quite complementary!
Is Ultherapy safe?
The procedure has been cleared by the FDA after demonstrating safety in clinical studies, and over 100,000 treatments have been performed safely worldwide. In addition, ultrasound energy has a proven track record, with use in the field of medicine for more than 50 years.
Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?
A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with skin that has "relaxed" to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. Sagging skin on the eyelids, on the neck or under the chin, for instance, are often the first signs of "maturing" skin. Typically, those in their thirties and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates. While Ultherapy is not a replacement for a surgical face lift, there are many people who want some lifting but are not ready for surgery, either mentally, financially or logistically. There are also younger people who want to "stay ahead of the game" as well as those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
How long does the Ultherapy ultrasound treatment take?
A full face and neck treatment takes 60-90 minutes, and a partial face or brow lift treatment can take around 30 minutesneither with any downtime.
What problem areas does Ultherapy target? What kind of results do you get?
Ultherapy addresses mild to moderate loose or sagging skin on the face and neck. Specifically, by reconditioning and renewing the skin from within, Ultherapy will lift the brow, which in turn reduces excess skin on the lids, opens up the eyes, and gives a more refreshed look overall. Ultherapy is also used to lift and tighten sagging skin on the neck and under the chin, addressing the "turkey gobbler" and "double chin," which many patients are trying to eliminate.
How long until I see results with an Ultherapy treatment?
Patients may enjoy some initial effect with an Ultherapy treatment, but the ultimate lifting and toning will take place over 2-3 months, as tired collagen is replaced with new, more elastic collagen. As this collagen-building process continues, further improvements can appear up to 6 months following a procedure.
How long do results last?
Patients treated with Ultherapy still have fresh young collagen after a year's time following the procedure, but skin continues to age. Future touch-up treatments can help keep pace with the aging process, which varies by individual.
Will I need more than one Ultherapy treatment?
The majority of patients only need one Ultherapy treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment (depending on how much laxity
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are used to improve the color, smoothness, and texture of the skin. It is useful for correction of facial blemishes, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation. Prescription strength peels are used for superficial to medium-depth peeling. The treatment takes a few minutes and the results are noticeable in one week. The new skin that forms is refreshed and rejuvenated, with improvements in color, texture, and tone with a more youthful appearance. Combining peels with skin care products will improve your results. You've heard of Botox and laser hair removal, but what is a chemical peel and what does it do? A chemical peel is a simple procedure used to improve the color, texture, and smoothness of the skin. Chemical peels and other skin treatments have been performed for many years to treat a variety of skin disorders. Many skin conditions can be improved when receiving a series of peels. It helps with blemishes, fine wrinkles, and uneven color. Fine lines will be softened, dull skin will appear more radiant, rough or uneven skin will become smoother. Sun damaged skin or blotchy skin will even out. Acne scarring may be softened. A peel does not eliminate sagging or excess skin. Each treatment is customized for patient skin type, specific problem areas and the delicate areas of the face.
What do chemical peels do?
Chemical peels are usually performed on the face, but can be done on anywhere on the skin. Prescription strength peels are used for superficial to medium-depth peeling. A controlled amount of acid is carefully applied to the skin, causing the outer surface layer to peel off slowly over the course of a few days to a week. The procedure itself takes less than 15 minutes. The acid is left on the skin for a short period of time. Then, depending on the peel, it is neutralized with water or base. The new skin that grows is rejuvenated, with smoother color and texture, and has a more youthful appearance. A initial series of three to six treatments every four to eight weeks is recommended with touch ups every three to six months. Using skin care products during this period enhances the effects of the peel and reduces the possibility of discoloration after the treatment.
A E Skin Red Carpet Peel Experience
The A E Skin Red Carpet Peel experience is fast, safe, and comfortable. It provides outstanding results for facial rejuvenation, with improvements in fine lines, wrinkles, and discolorations, as well as active acne and acne scars. We start by washing your face and taking baseline photographs to monitor your progress. Next we sit you down in front of a fan to keep you comfortable. We'll then clean your skin with cleansing solutions. When the peeling agent is applied, you will feel a tingling, burning, or itching sensation, but this will subside shortly because it contains a numbing ingredient. We will let you sit in front of the cold air for a few more minutes and we're done. We'll apply sunscreen to your skin and you are good to go.
Chemical peel aftercare instructions
For best results, carefully follow these aftercare instructions: Please avoid heat, alcohol, and exercise for 24 hours after the treatment. Heat refers to going out in the hot sun, if it were to be hot outdoors, but also any hot environment indoors, such as a hot bath, sauna, or steam room. Also avoid hot or spicy foods or drinks like soup, hot coffee, or hot tea because all of these things will bring blood to the skin and cause problem like redness, blister, and discolorations. Avoid harsh rubbing or scrubbing for one week after the treatment. Do not use products such as washcloths or the Clarisonic brush. Avoid direct water contact from the showerhead when in the shower. Please avoid makeup for several days after the treatment because your skin will be sensitive. You may be red for a few days after the treatment. Redness is normal, don't be alarmed. Feel free to apply cold compresses to your skin to keep you comfortable, if necessary. Sometimes dark discolorations get darker before they get lighter; this is normal. It is important that during this time you minimize sun exposure and wear protective sunscreen every day. Use a sunscreen every day, even if you avoid the sun. Recommended sunscreens have SPF of at least 30 and provide UVA and UVB protection. Protective hats and sunglasses are also recommended.
Peeling process
Most people will peel on days three to five after the treatment, but everyone is different. Some people don't peel at all. This is ok, for the goal is not to peel, it is to get results. These people are actually getting exfoliation, but it is microscopic, so you don't see it. If you do get visible peeling, please do not pick at it, otherwise you may have side effects such as redness, blisters, and discolorations. Apply a thin layer of intense moisturizer such as Vaseline, Aquaphor, or the Elta MD Intense Moisturizer to improve the healing process. This goes on best on a wet skin surface. By seven days, the new skin has formed. It is refreshed and rejuvenated, and you will see improvements in color texture and tone. Dr. Alex recommends an initial series of three to six treatments at four to eight week intervals, followed by maintenance treatments once every three to six months.

Latisse
What is Latisse?
Latisse is a prescription strength medication used to treat a condition called eyelash hypotrichosis, which is inadequate or not enough eyelashes. It causes the eyelashes to grow, becoming longer, darker, and fuller.
How is Latisse different from other over-the-counter products for eyelash growth?
Latisse is the first and only FDA-approved, prescription-strength medication for eyelash growth. It can only be prescribed by a medical professional.
How is Latisse applied?
Latisse is applied to the base of the upper eyelashes once a day. Wash your face and remove make up and contact lenses before application. Sterile, single-use applicators are provided. Place one drop of the solution onto an applicator and draw the applicator to the skin of the eyelid margin (where the eyelashes meet the skin) on one eye. Blot any excess solution with some tissue. Dispose of the applicator after each use. Repeat with a new applicator for the other eye. Do not apply the solution to the lower eyelashes, into the eyes, or on anywhere else.
Can I still use mascara?
Yes, mascara can be used while using Latisse.
How long does it take to see results?
Initial results can be seen as early as four weeks, but it takes 16 weeks to achieve the full effects.
Will I see better results if I apply more than the recommended dose?
No. Latisse works gradually over several months. Application of more than the recommended dose will not cause faster growth.
What if I forget to apply Latisse one night?
Continue applying the following day on the regular schedule. Do not apply more the next day to catch up.
What if I stop using Latisse?
After stopping use, eyelashes will gradually return to their original length, color, and thickness before Latisse was started.
Who should not use Latisse?
People who are allergic to the active ingredient (bimatoprost) or other ingredients (benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, dibasic sodium phosphate, and citric acid) should not use Latisse. Also, people with glaucoma or elevated intra-ocular pressure should be cautioned when using Latisse as it can interact with medications used to treat this condition. If you develop a new eye condition (injury, infection, change in vision, or surgery), speak with your doctor before continuing use.
What if I wear contact lenses?
People who wear contact lenses can use Latisse®. Remove contact lenses before applying the solution. Contact lenses may be re-inserted 15 minutes after application of Latisse.
What if I get Latisse into my eyes?
Latisse is an ophthalmic solution. It will not cause harm if it gets into the eyes. The eyes do not have to be rinsed.
Are there any side effects of using Latisse?
The most common side effects are itching and redness of the eyes, which has been reported in approximately 4 % of users. This is avoided if care is taken not to allow the solution into the eye itself. Less common side effects are eye irritation, dryness, redness, and reversible darkening of the upper eyelid where it is applied. It may cause permanent darkening of iris color; however, this has not been reported in any clinical studies. It should not be used on other areas, since it may cause hair growth in those areas.

Neocutis
The Neocutis Biocream is an outstanding product that can be added to any skin care regimen. It contains Processed Skin cell Proteins, or PSP, a blend of growth factors and other proteins designed to improve the appearance of aging skin. This is similar to the Skin Medica TNS Essential Serum. The differences are that the Neocutis Biocream does not have the undesirable scent of the TNS Essential Serum and the price point for the Biocream is more reasonable. The amount of growth factors the skin produces decreases with age and the Biocream replenishes these growth factors to promote healthy skin. It is used for anti-aging because it reduces fine lines and wrinkles, it improves skin texture and tone, it provides an increased radiance, and it enhances skin firmness. It is also used after procedures such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and laser treatments because it helps promote skin recovery and restoration. Twice daily use has been shown to improve wrinkles around the eyes and mouth.
What is PSP?
PSP is a balanced blend of proteins, including human growth factors, interleukins, and other cytokines.
Anti-Aging Power
Reduces fine lines and wrinkles; Enhances skin tone, texture, and firmness.
Skin Soothing
Promotes recovery after cosmetic treatments; Nourishing proteins soothe sensitive skin; Can be used with other products such as retinoids.

The Cause of Hair Loss
Androgenic alopecia is due to negative effects of DHT on genetically susceptible hair follicles.
The enzyme 5 alpha-reductase (5AR)converts testosterone to DHT.
DHT binds to the androgen receptors on the hair follicles.
DHT causes increased hair loss and gradual miniaturization of the hair follicles.
Over time the hair becomes thinner and if untreated the follicles die and the scalp becomes visible.
