At-Home Massage
At-Home massages have lots of benefits over traveling to a day spa or massage center.
No driving afterwards
When you receive an in home massage, you don’t have to worry about driving home or getting stuck in traffic. You have to be alert to drive, and alertness can cut short the relaxation benefits of your massage.
Pro-long the relaxation benefits
An in home massage enables you to really prolong your relaxation. You can schedule the appointment right before retiring for the evening. Or you can plan a warm bath or other relaxation ritual before and after your massage.
Experience deeper relaxation
Relaxation requires focusing your attention within and withdrawing it from your five senses and the external world. When you travel to another location to receive massage, your senses are usually on high alert because of the sensory input of the new space. When you’re at home, you’re so accustomed to the space, that you’re better able to relax more quickly. This helps you move deeper into relaxation during the session. So if you’re receiving a massage for stress relief, then in-home massages can deliver more stress relief in one session.
Receive a full hour, not fifty minutes
Did you know that when you go to a spa to receive massage, you only receive 50 minutes? Spas do this to fit more appointments into the day. Many times when you get an in home massage, you’ll receive an hour or a little longer because the therapist is not is as much of a rush since they usually schedule plenty of time in between clients to allot for travel time.
You’re not just a number
At spas, massage therapist usually have about 5-10 minutes in between clients to change the sheets and set the room up for the next client. Talk about stressed out. They also do anywhere between 5 to 7 massages a day. So naturally, the quality decreases. When a massage therapist comes to your home to do massage, they see your home, family pictures, and maybe even family, so they have more insight into you as a person needing their services and not just a number. This can mean a higher quality massage. Before booking an in home massage, keep in mind that when you book from an agency, especially one that’s not local, many times they have never even met the massage therapist they send to your house. So there’s no guarantee of professionalism or quality. Here at ABLM we pre-screen all of our therapists to make sure that only the most professional and highly trained therapists arrive to your home. Bookings for At Home massages must be done at the office prior to the first visit. Client must first fill out the standard intake forms and waiver. After the initial intake procedure, no more visits to the office will be required.
Other Info
All that is required of the client is an open reasonable sized room (9' x 9' or larger), and a working electrical outlet. We provide everything else.
At home massages will be an additional charge of $15 per hour for members, and $25 per hour for non-members.
At Home Massages may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!
Clients may also opt for a couples massage, or even massage party! (Additional charges may apply)
All of our therapists provide At Home Massage.
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, noninvasive method of evaluating and enhancing the function of a physiological body arrangement called the craniosacral system.
Developed by John E. Upledger, DO, OMM, this manual therapy enhances the body’s natural healing processes and has proven effective in treating a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. The roots of this therapy are in cranial osteopathy, developed by Dr. William G. Sutherland. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face, and mouth–which make up the cranium–down to the sacrum or tailbone. Since this system influences the development and function of the brain and spinal cord, any imbalance or dysfunction in the craniosacral system could cause sensory, motor, or neurological disabilities. These problems may include chronic pain, eye difficulties, scoliosis, motor-coordination impairments, learning disabilities, and other dysfunctions of the central nervous system. Craniosacral therapy encourages the body’s natural healing mechanisms to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, dissipate the negative effects of stress, and enhance health and resistance to disease. The craniosacral therapy practitioner uses a light touch to assist the natural movement of fluid within the craniosacral system. Therapists generally use only five grams of pressure, roughly the weight of a nickel, to test for restrictions in various parts of the craniosacral system. It’s often possible for the evaluation alone to remove the restriction and allow the system to correct itself.
Craniosacral Massages may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!

Deep Pressure vs. Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue differs from deep pressure massage in several ways.
Deep pressure is able to be sustained though the full session and is used in warming up and prepping the muscles for deep tissue. Deep pressure will open the two first layers of muscle tissue allowing general aches and pains to be eliminated. Deep pressure is good for loosening up “recent” built up muscle tension, form a hard work week or a bad nights sleep. The five Swedish massage techniques are employed; effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibrations (either shaking or rocking). The pressure range is from light to deep. Clients are able to relax and will not feel pain due to pressure unless a more intense issue; knot, trigger point, bruise, or fatigue/swelling, is present.
Deep Tissue massage is a modality separate from Swedish massage and is for specific issues which cause chronic pain, or limit range of motion.
Deep Tissue focuses on one or two muscle groups to retrain the muscles at the root of the problem, and is not sustained for the full massage. Deep Tissue is good for breaking up scar tissue and holding patterns such as frozen shoulder syndrome. Deep Tissue uses cross-fibering and deep muscle stripping and three-phase compression to break up knots and adhesions. Clients can experience some discomfort and pain during deep tissue massage, as pain spindles start working again, nerves are released from being compressed, and adhesions are broken up. Pain experienced should never be above a 5 1/2 on your pain scale of 1-10 (1= able to feel the pressure, 10= bruising pain) and you should have open lines of communication with your massage therapist.
Specific after care for Deep tissue should be as follows:
1 - Gallon of Water within 24 hours of your massage (before, immediately after, and the rest of the day). 2 - a heating pad for 15-20 min. 3 - a mild anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen can help with the after-session pain; you should never need more than your average dose to make it though the next day. The after-effects of Deep tissue can affect you for up to 3 days; the first day after your session will be the most sensitive with the effects tapering off by the third day. If the effects are severe (such as feeling unable to lift or move your limbs, achy all over or nauseous the next day), your body is having a hard time flushing the toxins that have been reintroduced to your system due to dehydration. Make sure that you are drinking enough water and are getting enough electrolytes (vitamins) to help strengthen your immune system while you flush the toxins that have stayed dormant in fat and muscle tissue.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage works to separate the muscle from the connective tissues of the body (the ligaments, tendons and muscle casings, which ‘connect’ one type of tissue to another). When these structures get sticky and less elastic deep tissue bodywork helps to return these tissues to a supple, fluid condition.
Deep Tissue Massages may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
Esalen Massage
Developed in the 1960's at Esalen Institute on the California Coast, this approach melded classic Swedish massage with sensory awareness practice and slow, flowing tai chi.
The practitioner works with the receiver, rather than on the client. Today the Esalen massage signature flow is punctuated with deep tissue detail, joint mobilizing, stretches, and energy work. Tension melts away and yields to a state of harmony.

Benefits of workplace massage
Enjoying Massage in the Workplace
Your first reaction to the thought of massage at work may be less than positive for several reasons. As you contemplate the idea, you may come up with some of the following: What will my (wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend, and so on) say? Won’t the boss think that this kind of massage is a waste of time? Or, if you’re the boss: “Won’t my employees take advantage of this and turn the office into a massage parlor?” Will I be in an awkward position on a chair and look stupid while receiving a massage at work? Will I be in an awkward position on a chair and look stupid while receiving a massage at work? How much will the massage cost? Will it mess up my hair?
Braving the benefits
What does corporate massage look like, anyway? Well, imagine this scenario: It’s late on a Friday afternoon. Your whole department has been under intense pressure to wrap up that humongous project you’ve been working on for months. Nerves are frayed. Happy hour is looming. No one can think about anything but escape. Then right at 4 p.m., in walks a healthy-looking individual toting a strange, padded, chair-like contraption that he proceeds to unfold over in one corner. This is the “corporate massage” that your boss promised. Yes, scenarios like this one can actually occur. Massage in the workplace has many such benefits, including the following: Increases employee morale, Lowers stress, Decreases overuse injuries, Provides some high-touch to counterbalance high-tech environments, Offers employees something new and different. The benefits of this type of massage quickly outweigh the concerns: Nobody has to undress, and if they really don’t want their hair messed up, they just have ask the massage therapist not to massage their head. The massage is usually given in a public space and is very conservative. The boss realizes that happy employees are productive employees. Employees who receive this extra benefit are more likely to feel grateful and be more responsible.
Paying for the privilege
So you’re left with one last issue — who pays for all this? Normally, payment is handled in one of three ways:
The company pays
This scenario, which is the most common, allows employees to forget about whether they can afford the massage, and it makes the boss look great.
Everyone contributes to a pool:
This scenario is less common, but some companies still choose it. Pulling those few dollars out of your pocket may hurt at first, but what you receive is better for you than the typical office-pool birthday cakes.
Everyone pays separately
This scenario is the least common. Though it may prove quite popular, paying separately often leaves people feeling a little at loose ends. Should they pay? Should they not pay? No matter what the scenario, the massage therapists often appreciate tips, unless everyone is aware that a service charge has been added up front. Either way, the massage more than pays for itself almost immediately. A massage pro brought in once a week or once a month can truly upgrade the total work experience of everyone involved.
Corporate or Employer Massage Packages
Enjoying Massage In the Workplace
Your first reaction to the thought of massage at work may be less than positive for several reasons. As you contemplate the idea, you may come up with some of the following: Can I really handle the thought of my coworkers lining up to get undressed and rubbed with almond oil in the employee lounge? What will my (wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend, and so on) say? Won’t the boss think that this kind of massage is a waste of time? Or, if you’re the boss: Won’t my employees take advantage of this and turn the office into a massage parlor? Will I be in an awkward position on a table or chair and look stupid while receiving a massage at work? How much will the massage cost? Will it mess up my hair? These concerns are all rational; research and experience can go a long way toward calming your concerns — and helping you appreciate a refreshing, healing power of touch.

Four-Hand Massage
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit. Try 60, 90, or even a 120 minute session. All of our therapists provide Four-Hand Massage. Choose your favorite therapists.
What is a Four-Hands massage?
In a four-hands massage, two therapists work on one client, often using synchronized moves. A four-hands massage can be like experiencing two full body massages at the same time. Good massage therapists will use the client’s body as a form of canvas onto which they choreograph slow, detailed moves of varying paces and pressures. There are a number of different styles of four-hand massage. For instance, both your legs or arms are being massaged at the same time. One therapist works on the right side of your back while the other works on the left.
Why get a Four-Hands Massage?
When two therapists and four hands hit your body, your mind reacts differently. At first you might find yourself trying to keep track of the therapists, where each one is and what each one is doing, struggling to keep it all in a very logical order in your head. But very quickly your brain realizes it’s not sure who is doing what, and gives up control. This is a powerful treatment for anyone who has a hard time letting go during treatments.
Geriatric Massage
Geriatric massage, with its focus on the elderly, addresses the psychological and physiological aspects of aging and its associated diseases.
Bodywork, often limited to a shorter time span, is often performed in residential care facilities. A Balanced Life Massage offers massage therapy currently to several long term care facilities with positive results!
We would love to offer our services to you and your facility.
Geriatric Massages may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage is a natural therapy in which warmed stones are positioned on parts of the client’s body of to maximize the therapeutic benefit. The stones used are typically river rocks or other very smooth-surfaced stones made of basalt. These stones are heated in sanitizing water before use. The high iron content in basalt helps the stones retain heat during the massage. Hot stone massages are beneficial on both physical and psychological levels. Always check with your doctor before getting a hot stone massage; individuals with certain conditions, including pregnant women and people with high blood pressure, are advised to avoid this type of therapy. Hot Stone Massages may be booked for 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours! We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
Muscle Relaxation
The heat from the stones helps your muscles relax, allowing the massage therapist to manipulate your deep tissues more effectively. Overly tense muscles can hinder the massage procedure, so if your muscles are extremely tight or stiff, the heated stones may provide the extra relaxation you need for the massage to be beneficial in releasing tension and easing sore muscles.
Pain Relief
While all types of massage can help relieve pain caused by tense muscles, stiff joints or injuries, a hot stone massage may provide greater relief due to the intense nature of the massage. Because the hot stones allow the massage therapist to penetrate deeper, you may find that a hot stone massage leaves you feeling physically better than a Swedish or deep-tissue massage that does not incorporate heat. It is important to let your massage therapist know if you feel that the heat from the stones is too much or that the pressure he is using is too harsh. Pain or discomfort during the massage process can cause more harm than good after the massage is over.
Improved Circulation
Typically, a massage therapist allows the heated stones to rest on trigger points in your body before beginning the actual massage. As the heat from the stones penetrates into your deeper body tissues, your blood vessels open, resulting in improved circulation. Poor circulation can lead to fatigue, which tenses the muscles, and a buildup of fluid and lactic acid in the muscles. Increased circulation delivers more oxygen to the muscles, which can help ease aches and pains.
Mental Benefits
Massage therapy can result in mental benefits as well as physical ones in many people. You may find that the relaxation afforded to you through a hot stone massage helps ease some of your mental stress and tension. A hot stone massage may also help you combat some of the symptoms of anxiety disorders and depression. While massage therapy is not a substitute for traditional medical or psychiatric care, it can be an integral part of your treatment plan.
Lomi Lomi
This system of massage uses very large, broad movements.
Two-handed, forearm, and elbow application of strokes, which cover a broad area, is characteristic of Lomi Lomi. Similar to Swedish massage in many aspects, this system uses prayer and the acknowledgment of the existence of a higher power as an integral part of the technique. Lomi Lomi, Hawaiian for “rub rub”, is described by teacher Aunty Margaret Machado as “the loving touch–a connection between heart, hand, and soul with the source of all life.” Aunty Margaret was the first to teach Lomi Lomi in a formal, classroom situation; previously the training was passed on within the family by Kahunas or shamans. Oils are used in the application of cross-fiber friction techniques. The practitioner often uses the forearm and elbow in the application of pressure.
LomiLomi Massages may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
Lotus System® Massage
The Lotus System® completely reinvents the connection of massage with music by matching massage speed, direction, value and movements to different rhythm and tempo patterns.
The massage is designed to remove the client from the physical and mental environment, paving the way for two positive end results: 1) It calms and slows down thought processes so anxiety can be released at a relaxing pace, essentially quieting the mind; 2) When this happens, the body relaxes, becoming more receptive and accepting of bodywork/massage. This allows the therapist to provide the corrective care the body needs.
Lotus System® Massages may be booked for 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours.
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
The following therapist provides Lotus System® Massage:

Manual Lymph Drainage
The strokes applied in manual lymph drainage are intended to stimulate the movement of the lymphatic fluids in order to assist the body in cleansing.
This is a gentle, rhythmical technique that cleanses the connective tissue of inflammatory materials and toxins, enhances the activity of the immune system, reduces pain, and lowers the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. The most widely taught and generally accepted form of this technique was created by Dr. Vodder of Austria and requires advanced training and precise movements.
Manual Lymph Drainage Massages may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
Medical Massage
Medical Massage
Medical Massage helps reduce pain, increase range of motion (ROM) and can be used to treat a long list of medical problems such as asthma, edema, muscle strain, tendinitis, fibromyalgia, and many others. Medical Massage targets your particular issue for the bulk of the session. Making sure you’re comfortable during the work is important, so several positions may be used during a session, which may include lying on your side, having you sit up, or having you lie down (face down or face up) depending on the work.
Mu-Xing Bamboo Therapy
Mu-Xing Bamboo Therapy is a treatment using warm bamboo and rosewood tools to perform deep tissue massage techniques.
Using different sized and shaped tools, the therapist applies a variety of massage strokes which address ischemic tissue and promote a deep sense of overall well being and relaxation. Mu-Xing Bamboo Therapy tools are specially crafted to deliver a full body, deep tissue massage effortlessly. Mu-Xing tools act as an extension of your hands reducing overall wear and tear on the hands, wrists and arms. The warmth of the tools helps to melt muscular tension and allow the therapist to work deeper with less effort.
Mu Xing Bamboo Therapy Massages may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to eliminate fascial restrictions and facilitate the emergence of emotional patterns and belief systems that are no longer relevant or are impeding progress. First, an assessment is made by visually analyzing the human frame, followed by the palpation of the tissue texture of various fascial layers. Upon locating an area of fascial tension, gentle pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction. Myofascial release is an effective therapeutic approach in the relief of cervical pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain, and headaches.
Myofascial Release Massages may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
Pregnancy & Postpartum Massage
From the second trimester through the first six months after birth, massage can help you deal with the massive changes occurring in and around your body.
Low back and shoulder pain, swelling in the lower legs and ankles, stress… massage for these and other issues can help you navigate this transition into motherhood. From the second trimester on, the massage is performed in a side-lying position using lots of pillows. We generally suggest moms-to-be get regular massage and plan on 90-minute sessions. In addition to Pregnancy & Postpartum massage may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
Reflexology
Based on an ancient Chinese therapy, reflexology involves manipulation of specific reflex areas in the foot, hands, and ears that correspond to other parts of the body.
Sometimes referred to as zone therapy, this bodywork involves application of pressure to these reflex zones to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion. Similar to acupressure principles, reflexology works with the body’s energy flow to stimulate self-healing and maintain balance in physical function. This technique is used to reduce pain, increase relaxation, and stimulate circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids. It is especially useful in stress-related illness and emotional disorders. Reflexology is also convenient in cases where an area of the body is traumatized or diseased to the extent that direct manipulation is not appropriate.
The Ingham Method is a form of zone therapy or reflexology.
In the 1930s, Eunice Ingham, a physiotherapist working for a physician, used zone therapy on patients. She mapped the entire body as represented on the feet. At first used to reduce pain, Ingham developed the work into the Ingham Reflex Method of Compression Massage, later known as reflexology. Only the hands are used to apply the pressure to the reflex points on the feet. It is used primarily to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Many practitioners integrate the practice of reflexology with other forms of bodywork. It’s now known as the Original Ingham Method of Reflexology.
Shiatsu
Shiatsu is different from the other types of massage listed.
Shiatsu is from Japan and is based on Acupuncture but no needles are used. Instead of targeting a specific problem (say Asthma) in Shiatsu the whole body/mind/spirit is considered and treated. By using stretching, compression and finger point work, Shiatsu works to balance the energy flow through your body. Shiatsu is very effective with chronic conditions that don’t easily yield to western medicine: menstrual complaints, insomnia, fatigue, etc. Shiatsu can be done on the table or on the floor. The client wears loose-fitting comfortable clothing and no lubricant is used.
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
Swedish Massage
The most common type of massage is Swedish massage therapy.
It involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on topmost layers of muscles. This is also combined with movement of the joints. By relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy can be both relaxing and energizing. And it may even help after an injury.
Swedish Massages may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
All the of the Therapist at ABLM provide EXCELLENT Swedish Massage services.
The four common strokes of Swedish massage
Effleurage
a smooth, gliding stroke used to relax soft tissue.
Petrissage
the squeezing, rolling, or kneading that follows effleurage.
Friction
deep, circular movements that cause layers of tissue to rub against each other, helping to increase blood flow and break down scar tissue.
Tapotement
a short, alternating tap done with cupped hands, fingers, or the edge of the hand.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy is also known as Myotherapy or Neuromuscular Therapy and applies concentrated finger pressure to “trigger points” (painful irritated areas in muscles) to break cycles of spasm and pain. It appears that most muscular pains have a trigger point that causes the muscle to go into spasms. Trigger Point Therapy involves placing pressure on that trigger point so that the muscle can relax and the pain can be lessened. Pressure is generally applied with fingers, knuckles, and elbows. This form of therapy is often followed by stretching the muscles. The basic idea is that the trigger point which is the source of the pain is not always where the patient feels the pain. The trigger point could be several inches away from the place where they feel the discomfort or pain. IT is said that by applying pressure to the actual point of the source the practitioner in turn may be able to control the pain experienced.
Trigger Point Therapy may be booked for 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or even 2 hours!
We also offer Massage Packages, Referral or Group Programs, Corporate Programs, and Yearly Memberships that discount the rate even lower for your benefit.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery.
There are three contexts in which sports massage can be useful to an athlete: pre-event, post-event, and injury treatment. Pre-event massage is delivered at the performance site, usually with the athlete fully clothed. Fast-paced and stimulating, it helps to establish blood flow and to warm up muscles. During the massage, the athlete generally focuses on visualizing the upcoming event. Post-event massage is also delivered on site, through the clothes. The intent here is to calm the nervous system and begin the process of flushing toxins and waste products out of the body. Post-event massage can reduce recovery time, enabling an athlete to resume training much sooner than rest alone would allow. When an athlete sustains an injury, skillful massage therapy can often speed and improve the quality of healing.
