I was born and raised in Hawai'i and one of my fondest childhood memories was eating a "plate lunch" with my family at Ala Moana, watching the sunset on the beach.
The plate lunch is what the locals eat in Hawai'i. It is fast, casual comfort food influenced by the melting pot of cultures found on the islands -- Hawaiian, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Korean and Filipino.
